Dana is what he is, a decent coach with a style that's entertaining for awhile, such as throwing a lot of long passes, and a lack of emphasis on discipline that just doesn't make the program feel solid. He had a nice run but I think it was getting time for him to leave and he sensed it too. I'm glad he landed on his feet at Houston.

I really like Brown's approach and demeanor and his emphasis on process and discipline If you do things the right way then there is a better chance you'll have a good result. That makes sense. Of course that doesn't necessarily mean Brown will be a good football coach. We'll see. He needs a fair trial though and that means a few years, not a few games.

What a reasonable, well thought out stance to take with the evidence available. Now be prepared for Bucky to assert that you are in fact fawning over Brown like he is the best coach ever and that you are a hypocrite that bashed Dana every season he was at WVU which is just wrong since he progressed into such a great coach. Hmmm, claims someone is a sycophant over Brown while declaring that Dana is on par with Nehlen, Bowden, RR, Lewis, or Rodgers. Also claims it is wrong to be critical of a coaches early failings because he became a "great coach" while being critical of another coaches early "failings." Seems like someone has a childish defense mechanism of projecting.

They were not in line to do it again. 7 wins would have been a miracle and anybody who isn't a contrarian dick on this board would likely agree. He underachieved last season and if 2019 turned into a 4-5 win season, he likely would have been fired.

Don't care about Holgorsen at Houston.

He was one of the best ever at WVU though, and had WVU playing better than the current HC has shown so far.

Couldn't be happier that "bad hair day" Holgorsen is gone! Poor coach (outside of offense), poor leader, poor organizer, poor defense, poor special teams!

I dont understand the angst. DH did well when all things are taken into account. Lets not forget he was being sabotaged internally before he ever coached a game in Morgantown.

He managed to get us an Orange Bowl, in one of the most fun games Ive ever witnessed as a Mountaineer. He had some nice teams but never got over the hump.

It was his time to leave and the situation worked out perfectly for all parties. One of the most amicable separations Ive witnessed.

Much to work on at WVU with new coach, new staff, plays/schemes and young guys to develop. I clearly felt that this team perhaps learned from the errors/mistakes and by 2nd things started to click and the coaches and team started to improve and mature. Mizzou will be very tough as an away event, but while anything can happen, game will provide more opportunity to improve whether win (.

The past is the past, but with Dana, while he still did well vs Oklahoma tonight, we had the same old crap, play well and let the whole thing collapse and this time, another OK loss. Nuff said over Dana now and going forward, past history! Now the focus has to be Neil and WVU team (sorry, couldn’t resist the observation).

I think it’s way too soon to compare Dana and Neil.

Come back in 5 years.

Under Brown, playing FCS JMU, WVU had 6 penalties for 35 yards. JMU only had 20 yds of penalties.

Under Brown, playing FCS JMU, WVU had only 294 yards of offense compared to JMUs 328. WVU was only 6-18 on third down efficiency.

While some non thinking people bash on Holgorsen, how do you ignore WVUs present deficiencies?

Bucky304 give it a rest.We know you masturbated to Holgorsen press conferences and drank a red bull in his honor every night. Nobody is saying Holgs was a horrible coach. You are just inflating Holgorsen like a blowup sex doll.

2013 William & Mary 17 WVU 24. WVU trailed 17-7 at the half.

Hell you don't even know the name of your coach, you lost all credibility on that one ....Neil ? haha maybe after a few years you'll know his correct spelling of his name
