Martell Pettaway averaged 2.2 yards per carry against James Madison. For the 2018 season Pettaway averaged 6.4 yards per carry.

Kennedy McCoy averaged 1.0 yards per carry against James Madison. For the 2018 season McCoy averaged 5.5 yards per carry.

Players get better from year to year. This drop is on the offensive blocking.

Even when WVU was passing, Kendall had defenders in the backfield before he could release the ball.

That’s on the offensive blocking. New starters, new positions, true. But that’s where the biggest improvement is needed from game to game.

Wyoming, with fewer than 100 yards passing, dominated most of the game to beat Missouri, WVU’s next opponent. How? By rushing for almost 300 yards and with an aggressive, opportunistic defense.

WVU should keep that in mind in Columbia, Missouri on Saturday.

Called playcalling.

Cannot run the ball without space. Not Offensive Line.
Last year or this year WVU didn't have that powerful OL that was going to run anyone over.
Need to get that but for now need more passes over the top.
Think Neal Brown wanted to play conservative

Think you're an f'n idiot. This o line isnt as good as last years, and the threat of the pass isnt there. James Madison loaded the box with run blitzes to take it away. 22 of the first 30 plays were passes that's not being conservative, that's playing to what the defense gives you, they just weren't taking advantage of it with inaccurate passes downfield or drops. Shouldnt you be giving out handjobs somewhere right now anyways why the hell are you here

When FIVE Dukes are in the WVU backfield that's a blocking problem, not a play-calling problem. Neal Brown will fix it. He has to. And Wyoming ran against Missouri easily, so WVU can, too, if the proper adjustments are made. Which makes your assessment and my assessment morph into a good analysis.

Alot of Wyoming's running also came from their qb, at least the threat. I dont think read option from us is going to freeze anybody or our qb is going to scare them with his feet. And almost half of wyomingz rushing yards came on 2 plays, we don't really play home run ball like that. That being said I also think james Madison has a better run defense than Missouri does. But every single lineman must be better. I didnt pay attention to who #5 was going around each time but he came from the left side of the line often and thats where our supposed NFL caliber tackle resides. If our linemen had black paint on their hands I think his white Jersey would have still been spotless at the end of the game

Always wait in anticipation for FakeSportsWriter to post the obvious...things we all saw at the game or on TV. Too funny. Usually get a first laugh reading his Talmadgeer post on another site...using the same words but not the obnoxious big red typeface. What a dweeb.

You stated, "And Wyoming ran against Missouri easily, so WVU can, too, if the proper adjustments are made." As any good sports reporter would do, you looked up the box score and invented a narrative to fit your preconceived beliefs.

#1- this was the first game of the season for both teams and anything can happen so don't get too giddy about them losing to Wyoming as we will likely see a completely different animal this Saturday

#2 - this was an away game for Missouri (which matters) and it was at an elevation of 7000+ feet (really matters).

#3 - You must have missed the part of Brown's postgame press conference (it's available on YouTube gramps) where he says the offense has even struggled to run the ball in their scrimmages (around the 1:40 mark)
