LBs are important to this D so they better progress as year goes on.
You can do so many other things with LBs now. Just matters who you are playing
Every team has LB issues because most aren't athletic to play the position with what teams are doing now.

Offensive play calling has been terrible.
Either way....it sucks.
OL has issues, DL has issues. The best RB in the world still needs a little hole to run through. The QB has a good touch, but no feet. What were people expecting?
Are you OK now?
Did you get your diaper changed?
Its a new offensive scheme. Its going to take time for the players to learn the system. Brown has to work with what he has. He inherited a group of players that weren't accustomed to the power running game. Give him time and show patience. If he's the guy we hope him to be will get there.Happy with the win. Absolutely! Happy with the offense? No way.
For a great as the 2018 offensive line was supposed to be Wvu was 85th in rushing. We saw yesterday that these guys struggle with run blocking. But it shouldn't be a surprise when the team couldn't do it last year. The 2019 team doesn't have the luxury of a 3rd round qb leading the way along with 2 nfl receivers.Get accustomed to the power running game?
As another poster poignantly wrote:
Martell Pettaway averaged 2.2 yards per carry against James Madison. For the 2018 season Pettaway averaged 6.4 yards per carry.
Kennedy McCoy averaged 1.0 yards per carry against James Madison. For the 2018 season McCoy averaged 5.5 yards per carry.

and yet they did it in buckets last year as compared to right now.
They also had a better team last year. Holgorsen got out before the roof caved in on him.and yet they did it in buckets last year as compared to right now.
I'll take a sucky offense that wins games.Either way....it sucks.

The only bucket needed is for the crap you be spewing out your mouth.

Holgorsen outside a year was pretty consistent--the roof wasn't caving in, WVU would have again contended in the league.
Now, experts predict 3 wins. The JMU result doesn't forecast lots of success for this years squad so far. We'll see just how "any coach could come in and win as many games"---the mantra so many kept repeating till they pushed Holgorsen away.
Define, "contended in the league".
Technically, every team in the conferences contends in the league on a yearly basis...
I'm certain you know what "contended" means. Up until late in the season, down to the LAST regular season game, WVU was in contention for the championship game.
That is reality. Not "technically".

I agree it will take 2 + years to fix the current problem with WVU OL. Brown inherited a bare cup board in that department. There best OL man from last season is now in the NFL. The O line is one of the most underrated aspects of an offense. A good Oline can make a poor QB look average and average QB look like a Heisman candidate. A good Oline makes and average RB look like and all pro. One of the disappointments of last years team was the run blocking ability of the Oline. Wvu was 85th in rushing. I remember reading and article at the end of last season the headline read WVU's running game comes alive. It stated how we underachieved in the running game. I think what Brown has learned from the DH years is that you can't expect Will Grier caliber QB's to show up on your door step every season. If he can build up the oline he won't need to rely on the QB as much. Brown will probably try to play to the historical strength of wvu which is a more run based offense but add a little more passing to it. DH's best season was 2016 and he took that approach. He probably should have stuck to it.Exactly.
Stats usually aren't a way to measure anything.
Some bad running teams put up a lot of yards but they do it because space is opened up.
Chip Kelly's offense is a perfect example.
Some good running teams aren't in the Top 10 or 20.
What makes a difference is teams who can run the ball when everyone knows they will for 4+ yards.
That is when you have things lined up.
West Virginia wasn't that team last year.
Those ypc were based around Will Grier.
Without Will Grier teams are more likely to stay near the LOS.
Only thing I have to wonder about Neal Brown and his OL coach is what they like in an OL.
Looks like they want big guys. 6-5 315+.
But truthfully the players who are being drafted in the first round on the OLine are the guys entering college at 6-5 or 6-6 270 and bulking up.
Truthfully would take the big if he had the athleticism but most don't.
When you run spread you need athletes on the OL because you have more space to cover.
Don't think WV is near what they should be because those OL aren't covering a lot of space and the space they do cover they aren't dominating.
That is something that takes a program 2+ years to fix
I have seen some experts predict a 3 win season i have seen one predict a 7 win season. The majority have said between 5-6 wins. Don't pass subjective opinions off as factsHolgorsen outside a year was pretty consistent--the roof wasn't caving in, WVU would have again contended in the league.

Here is a fact for you. The wvu rushing attack was ranked 85th last season. This year it doesn't have and NFL QB,its best Offense lineman and 2 nfl caliber receivers from a year ago. A logical person would figure out that the rushing attack would have drop off considering opposing defenses are not scared of getting beat deep like they were a year ago.The RBs ran in 2018 and gained yards. Everyone was yammering about how great the running game would be in comparison under this new coach, and soooo happy to get away from the passing game that Holgorsen had WVU rated in the top 10 for.
Now its the passing game isn't as good for an excuse huh?
