USDA gave almost 100 percent of Trump’s trade war bailout to white farmers | Farm Bill Law Enterprise
http://www.farmbilllaw.org/2019/07/...of-trumps-trade-war-bailout-to-white-farmers/

That article is written by lawyers from Harvard, sPitt and some other sprinkled in. If this is the work that they are putting out, I would want my money back. That might be the worst racist hit piece I have ever read. The fact that it came from real law schools makes it scary to think who get into those schools.

Are you trying to make His socialism racist? That's pretty lame.
Pretty sure that tjebarr didn't write the article. The article shows that there are disparities in who gets the money. There's probably more to the story but it looks like there was bias in handing out the loot.

It's very interesting how every single article posted here critical of Trump that you have a beef against the author but not once have I seen you attacking an author of a pro trump article?

You assuming that black farmers need a handout is racist and disgusting. What is wrong with you.

Socialism would NEVER be used nefariously. How dare you. Just because you don't like Trump doesn't mean Trump's socialism is racist.

PS - This is stupid. Is Trump's socialism helping bigger, corporate farms? Yes. Is his socialism racist? Give me a break.

Who said anything about black? Only you.

You saying any minority farmer needs a handout is racist and disgusting. Did that hit piece classify Hispanics as whites or other. Who owns the majority of farmland in America. What year did farm subsidies start ? Do you what to stop the practice immediately or tapper it down slowly ? You're all Orange man bad and no substance.

All farmers, regardless of color, religion, etc, need Trump's socialist handout because Trump's federal government unilaterally cut their dicks off.

I get it, you think tariffs = socialism. protectionism = socialism. You have yet to explain how to effectively trade with any country that dictates the salaries, working conditions, healthcare and social liberties of their workers.

China has manipulated their currency to try and maintain a position of power. They have spent billions trying to win the war of perception (they are now forcing Hollywood to put them in a better light of the they pull their funding). They dumped steel below the break even price so that they could dominate the world market...and it worked.

How does a private corporation that has to play by the rules compete with that? In the US, if a couple of industry giants got together to try and manipulate the price of their products, they would be slapped with price fixing, collusion, and market manipulation.

The US companies that compete internationally are disadvantaged from the start. My old company, had a 2020 strategy that dictated that 10% of their revenue would come from emerging markets, China being one of them. Guess what, China stole our intellectual property rights and never opened their markets to us. We then tried to get a foothold in Hong Kong, you see what is happening there? South America has outperformed, go figure.

The free handouts = socialism. The free handouts came about because of protectionist trade.

We have effectively traded with these countries for years. Free trade agreements of the 80's, 90's and aughts have exploded our wealth and power to unimaginable heights. You protectionist crybabies are the ones that have yet to explain why or how tariffs and protectionism work. Or why they were ever needed?

You have made valid points about flood and crop insurance in the past. Farm subsidies started as far back as the 1920's. I agree there is a lot of fraud waste and abuse going on. I am in favor of getting that under control and moving to the insurance model you described before. Like coal I think it needs to be a goal worked toward vice turning it all of at once. That could be catastrophic if not.

choose better articles...you seem to like the ones that are written by the far left with an automatic bias built in. You are good with headlines, but the proof is not in the pudding. Bill Cosby would be disappointed.

We're not reducing it. We are exploding the government handouts and making farmers MORE dependent on the federal government.

I did. Small piece of crucial information missing. Who applied for the socialism?
I said there's probably more to the story. To get the funds, you had to apply for them. Maybe very few blacks (for some reason) didn't apply for the funds. I'd have to see more about the criteria for handing out the money. The question is why did the vast majority of the money go where it did. They needed to do interviews with those responsible for handing out the cash and let them respond to the author's concerns. The article probably raises more questions than it answers.

Except it's not free trade....that is my point and you have yet to address it....

You do realize that China is basically two countries in one. One is a slave labor communist country and the other is a fake democracy. The rural side of China is filled with factories occupied by slave labor. This is where the true abuse is occurring and they do everything they can to hide it from the rest of the world. The coasts is filled with large modern cities that are competing with our tech companies by stealing our intellectual property rights and making our products cheaper using the cheap labor from the rural areas.

They are basically us both past and present. They rural areas look like us during the industrial revolution but they also are current world players due to industrial spy craft and buying politicians worldwide. They want to be treated like a 3rd world county on the production side, but also want a seat at the big boy table of the 21st century. Can't have it both ways.

China has not made us who we are today, that is just plain crazy talk. If anything, China has held us back from being even more dominant.

That's a fair assessment. Did you read it? Trump is betting that a better trade agreement will produce long term stability for the US. Trump is betting that we can withstand the short term hit. China thinks they can wait us out.

I am willing to to watch it play out. It appears that you are not. One thing is for sure, Trump is betting his political future on it. Some see that as crazy, others see that as a sign of strength.

No matter who they were intended for, the distribution of funds seem to be less than equitable while the reason(s) for that are unclear.

The USMCA is NAFTA, so have at it. We also should have signed onto the TPP and aligned with allies in China's neighborhood. China, as presently configured, is not over taking us as the world's largest economy, nor sniff "controlling" the world economy. Even with triple the amount of people. Aside from a pride thing, would it really matter? I don't see hurting US consumers and workers (ie Americans) to keep some sense of pride as the world's largest economy as a good thing. If they pass us, they pass us. More importantly, let's continue to improve our economy.

Still waiting on you to address why and or how tariffs will help us. Or even why they were needed. I'm sorry you have a problem with our unprecedented economy and riches of the last 40 years that came from FTA and freer global trade.

I've been saying for years that "free trade" is a myth. America has historically been a protectionist nation, and it's worked out quite well.

All countries are protectionist for key industries that they want to control/protect. Big difference between free trade and fair trade. Free trade happens at a garage sale, fair trade happens between countries. Some on here thinks that a US company buys/sells products with other countries/companies across international lines without some form of adherence to taxes, tariffs, concessions, etc. It could take years for a US company to start selling a product in China and meeting specific criteria that the Chinese gov. has demanded for access to their country. The world is not a big eBay marketplace. It's complicated beyond belief.

Post 31.

Black and Hispanic farm owners own less farms. They only make approximately 22 % of farm owners.

How much you want to bet I can show they got subsides also. The article above is garbage.

I promote the globalist way, not the socialist way. Meanwhile you promote the protectionist/socialist way. :joy::joy::joy::joy: Just because some **** is made in China doesn't make them control the world economy. What a laughable scared position that is. We still operate in a global currency of one (the US Dollar). We are a free society that replenishes itself with the help of immigrants. China is a walled off society with collapsing demographics (1 child policy) slaughtering minorities. Stop being scared.
