Isn't it clear by now that the G5 schools are not capable to competing on the same level as P5 schools? It is far past time to split these two groups up into different competitive divisions.
Not so fast Boomer....... G5 conferences as a whole may not be on the par with P5 conferences but there are some very good programs at the G5 level. UCF, Cinty, Houston even Temple and Memphis in the AAC are on par or better than many of the P5 mid level and bottom dwellers. Independents BYU, ND and Army (this year). Boise, Utah St, Fresno Nevada in the MWst. These all are teams better than MOST of the P12, Rutgers, Indy, Ill, Minnesota, Marylandk and even Nebraska in the B1G, Kansas and on par with KSU, TTU, Okst in the B12, UNC, Dook, Wake and now a depleted Lvlle in the ACC. And on par with MissSt, Mizzou, Old Miss, Vandy and Ark in the SEC.
These programs can compete mid level in any conference year after year. Some years heading to toward the top of those conferences. You can if you want to show your ignorance and pick and choose a couple programs in a few years that didn't produce great results. But that doesn't negate where the programs are today.
