The Real Problem With Guns In America

Every time there is a school shooting all the liberals do is complain that gun laws are not tough enough and that there are to many guns blah blah blah. The real problem is we don't have enough guns. If responsible students were taught proper gun safety and allowed to bring guns to schools then these psychopaths would have second thoughts about coming to schools and shooting other students. If that student who was killed in Colorado had a gun he wouldn't have had to charge the gun man. He could have simply blown that SOB away. Liberals will continue to spin the gun debate negatively but they have to remember that one of their famous Icons Ted Kennedy killed more people with his car then me and the average gun owner has killed with there gun.

That sounds like a great idea. Let’s put more guns in the hands of adolescents who haven’t completely, mentally matured and suffer from anxiety, peer pressure and other emotional struggles. And let’s put all those teens in the school with unarmed teachers, who are often the target of students’ frustrations and aggravations.

F’ucking moron.

Metal detectors at entry control points at schools would go a long way.

Numerous studies have shown that where the public is armed and ‘carrying’ to a greater degree the incidence of gun violence decreases significantly.
Greatest statistical chance for gun violence occurs in ‘gun free zones’, including schools. Known that the safest place to launch an attack is where no one has a gun to aid in resistance.

The last sentence in your rant says much about your knowledge of the subject. Allowing juveniles to bring firearms to school. An idea that has makes zero sense and would be a disaster in waiting.

Off the top of my head.

1929: The Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929-1953, 20 million dissidents rounded up and murdered.

1911: Turkey established gun control. From 1915-1917, 1.5 million Christian Armenians rounded up and exterminated.

1938: Germany established gun control. From 1939-1945, 13 million Jews and others rounded up and exterminated.

1935: China established gun control. From 1948-1952, 20 million political dissidents rounded up and exterminated.

1964: Guatemala established gun control. From 1981-1984, 100,000 Mayan Indians rounded up and exterminated.

1970: Uganda established gun control. From 1971-1979, 300,000 Christians rounded up and exterminated.

1956: Cambodia established gun control. From 1975-1977, 1 million educated people rounded up and exterminated.

In the 20th Century more than 56 million defenseless people were rounded up and exterminated by people using gun control.

2012 - 2019, Venezuela - TBD

And most importantly we need to be able to protect ourselves from far right wingnuts

Hey, I'm pro gun. I also believe there are places they do not belong.

I actually want to see the literature if it exists.

What if someone who specializes in Anti- Terrorism / Force Protection told you that harden targets are safer.
Would you believe them ?

Pretty significant difference in a hardened target and the average places we go every day. Also, most hardened targets dont just let any shmuck walk in with a gun.

The argument being made was that more guns make people safer. All of the research I have seen shows that the more access there is to firearms the more likely a person will be the victim.

What sources told you that ? And do you understand how you harden a target ?

I would start by controlling access to or near the building. Make sure cars arent able to get too close, use strong doors that are always locked and limit access through windows. Make sure people are trained in what to do if something happens, make sure alarms work, have some security on site.

Take it further by using an outer perimeter with limited access points and a specific path that had to be followed once through them. How does the landscape affect your facility? There might be changes you need to make there or ways to use it to your advantage.

You just posted that metal detectors at doors would help. That's a way to control people can bring through those entries; meaning that you are agreeing you have to control who does or doesnt have a gun in the buidling.

Most public places arent able to use that kind of security because they need to let people come and go easily. Schools lock doors now and usually have a cop on campus, but you cant very well make every person come through a sally port and get patted down.

Most of the security we do have is security theater anyway. The building I am in now requires an access card, but an outsider could gain entry if they wanted in a few minutes and anyone with a card could come in as they please.

So, how do you harden a wal mart or the local mall? How about a busy park in the summer or a McDonalds? A HS football game or the Blue Lot 90 minutes before kickoff?

You make some good points initially. Lets stick with schools for now. How familiar are you with AMAG Technologies ?

No boom.it's a security system that would go a long way in protecting our children while in school. It's used in private schools. It's also used in high security facilities all over the world. I would support our tax dollars being used to implement it in our schools throughout our country.

You are correct Moe. So it would have to be a national program for schools that can't fund it. Also a contract that large would have have to be negotiated as not to take advantage of tax payers. (that's a whole different issue). AMAG is just one company so they can bid it out. Private Schools as well as Public Schools in wealthy areas have it, so I am in the crowd that I wouldn't mind this being part of an infrastructure deal to assist schools that can't afford all of the cost.

And behind those "hardened" targets, members of the military are often not armed. But carry on with your story, I like it.

My children's school uses AMAG like technology goofball. It's not on a military base. Once again you bring nothing of vaule to the conversation and continue to prove to be nothing more than oxygen thief. Stick to marketing you are way out of your area of expertise.

Kids with guns in school should never happen....but some Democrats are saying kids at 16 should be able to vote ...lol cant make up this stuff..
I would support more security at schools...would also support research into what has caused our decline in valuing human life ...& what has caused kids to go & kill people like this ...are we raising them to soft , not exposing them to the bad side of life enough...sugar coating everything to a point that when something happens they mentally cant handle rejection or a little depression.....

I was just using your example for what happens when gun control measures are enacted.

Below are some examples I gave for why disarming all of our citizens is a bad idea. Are you in the camp these incidents never happened ? Are you saying people who believe history repeats itself are conspiracy nuts ? If so good luck selling that ! Now AMAG is a separate issue on how to better secure schools through better technology. Simply put AMAG is an entry control tool that when used tactically can isolate high risk incidents.

1929: The Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929-1953, 20 million dissidents rounded up and murdered.

1911: Turkey established gun control. From 1915-1917, 1.5 million Christian Armenians rounded up and exterminated.

I think it’s just a general lack of respect for one another. No one shows respect for others these days.
