I’d appreciate a mentor with better decision making than Rivers, but he would at least give Will a couple years to actually develop

I have said on here before...
Will Grier plays a lot like Phillip Rivers.

Anthony Lynn would be great for him as a football player and human being.
Lynn believes coaching is a people business.
Think the Chargers see the similarities.
Rivers and Stafford are popular two QBs you want to have the ball late in the game no matter the talent around them or the coaches.
They are winners.
Grier was like that in college.

I really hope the Patriots take him. Belichik can fix him. He’s basically raw talent. He certainly learned very little under Dana. With the right coach and offense, the kid could be good.

Maybe if Grier was a LB.
Belichik is a Defensive guy.
Tom Brady became Brady with Josh McDaniels.

Will Grier would do best in an offense that runs mainly Vertical Spread.
New England used to be like that but McDaniels is very good at changing his offense to fit his personal.

Geno Smith and Will Grier are two different people.

It is like making the Joey Harrington and Kyle Boller comparsions to Aaron Rogers.
Jeff Tedford QBs were viewed as NFL bust.

I think the maturity of Grier is the difference.
Geno Smith acted like a little kid at the draft and then blamed his agents.

Should have used that as motivation...
But couldn't accept responsibility.

Plus was drafted by Rex Ryan and then had Todd Bowles as a Head Coach

Never had a decent OC.
Has a strong arm and the athletic ability to be a great QB.

Geno went bad after his big 600+ yard game and it went to his head. The ESPN interview where he said something to the effect that he's going to have even bigger games ....yeah that was his last really good game ever. That was it for Geno.

I don't watch the NFL but from listening to various sports talk radio the teams coming into the draft that need a QB were:
AZ-check
Giants-check
Redskins-check
Dolphins-
Bengals-

Will Need one soon or may draft one because their starter is questionable for the future:
Chargers
Pats
Saints
Tampa
And even Carolina

So you got 4 to 6 clubs that need one perhaps and that means 3 or 5 draft spots because you also have Josh Rosen who won't be in AZ and he's cheap in terms of contract. Imo Grier's best opportunities for being drafted are either Miami or Tampa. The guy did play college ball in FL too and that helps.

Edit I forgot about Denver who was also mentioned

Follow along....
When McDaniels was promoted to QB coach in 2004 Tom Brady's numbers increased.
Prior to 2004 Tom Brady was a good QB but not great nor elite.

When McDaniels returned to NE in 2012 Tom Brady played his most consistent football with a QB rating of 3 consecutive seasons.

It is well known that Josh McDaniels is considered a Top Tier OC.
Because of his ability to adjust to his personal.
New England has reinvented themselves numerous times with him.

New England problem between 2008-2011 was their inability to reinvent themselves.

Everyone knew what NE was going to run during this time.

Baltimore doesn't have Joe Flacco anymore
Pittsburgh drafted Mason Rudolph last year.

The question is Denver.
Who does Elway like better Lock or Grier.

I think a lot of these teams have determined there is not much of a difference between these QBs.
Lock
Grier
Finley

So why waste a second round pick
Maybe even a third round pick.

As you saw with CBs.
Teams drafted mainly based on availability

If Grier
is drafted in 2nd or 3rd round ,
he'll be expected to start,
immediately ...

That's the difference in QB drafted
before Saturday, 4th and after

If you have an All Time NFL draft and you put all the QBs through a combine and private workouts.

Brady wouldn't be a #1 pick.
Brady wouldn't even be a Top 10 pick.

This is coming from people who know QBs.

The #1 QB would most likely be John Elway.

Brady is a great QB but a lot of it has to do with Bill Belichik on Defense.

Belichik was a HoF coach before he went to NE because of what he did for the NY Giants.

Not taking anything away from Brady because there are some obvious things you have to respect about him.

You still need to put him in the right schemes and find the personnel to fit him

Josh McDaniels will be the HC of NE in a few years.
Why he turned down the Detriot job..

Point is if Will Grier goes to NE it will be Josh McDaniels who develops him as a QB

Sorry buddy but total Fake News. Get your facts right.

QBs are always OVERVALUED and paid accordingly...

In this world, 2nd 3rd rounder will be expected to play...

Geno started (eventually)
after being a 2nd rounder....

?Come again?

You all can't SLURP Grier all day
than backtrack, the next opportunity

^^^^^^^moron alert^^^^^^^

Your buddy Dan Marino would be picked over him as well.

Tom Brady was able to develop because of Willie McGinest and the early LBs NE had.

Without those players Brady wouldn't have been a great QB.
His first season with a QB rating over 90 wasn't until 2004.

Josh McDaniels took a good QB and helped Brady become elite.

But Brady is one of the smartest QBs in football and one of the hardest workers.

But let's not act like he came into the league as an elite QB.

People think that HS recruits develop better in certain situations.
Wouldn't that be the same in the NFL for players coming out of college.

Especially on defense.
Very few defensive players fit all schemes.
With the amount of turnover in the NFL you would rather have a player who does.

Perfect example would be D'Angelo Hall with the Oakland Raiders.
Played mainly zone with Atlanta.
Oakland signed him to play a lot of press coverage.

Well Hall was released about 8 weeks into the season after getting a huge contract.

Nnadmi Asomugha was the other way around.
Went from All Pro with Oakland to average corner with Philadelphia

Doubling down on Fake News haha. You posted 2nd and 3rd round QBs are expected to play immediately. Of course the facts are the opposite. You moved the goal posts with Geno and “eventually” haha. You posted immediately. He actually fits nicely on my side of the argument that you just posted Fake News. NFL teams generally don’t turn the team over in a rookies first game or year unless injury or hideous QB play from veterans occurs.

You probably think Tom Brady won the SB last year for New England.

When the truth is that probably at least half of the NFL QBs would have won those games in the playoffs for New England.

Don't care what the idiots on television or the internet tell you.
Football is a team game and SB championships are teams awards.

They don't make Tom Brady the Greatest QB ever.

Brady lacks the skill set the other QBs have.

When you grade everything from a 1-10+ scale.
With 10+ being the highest.

A QB like John Elway scores 10+, 10 and 9's on everything.

Tom Brady's arm strength would be an 8.
Mobility would be a 6.
