Serious question.

Republicans have won the popular vote in a Presidential Election exactly once in 30 years. Do you think the EC will keep saving you or have you just hung on because you got lucky?

So we all know the rules going into an election why don't the Dems want to adhere to them?

Okay good for him. Just because he believes something does that mean i have to blindly follow him?

There are only problems with the voting system or "reforms" needed when Dems lose. Don't forget every vote counts...even the ones harvested after a Democrat loses on the first official count of legally cast ballots.

(see So. California Congressional recounts...where not one Democrat who lost the initial vote, also lost the contested 'recounts')

When you can't win the game..... rig the game. That's the message coming from the left these days, even as they bemoan congressional district maps.

Getting rid of the EC is a HORRIBLE idea, and the idiots supporting it are cutting their noses off to spite their faces.

Trump had this "horrible" idea when the polls showed he was losing prior to November 2016. This idea of getting rid of the Electoral College goes back a lot longer than just recent Democrats.

And Donald Trump is a moron.... your point? Other than you must agree with him and think he's smart? o_O

The congressional district maps are a problem in several states, and I include Maryland in that statement. It creates single-party districts, and that leads to more polarization. If I'm a republican congressman in a safe republican district, my only real risk is losing a primary. If I say something nice about or work with someone across the aisle, I run the risk of losing my seat because I'm not conservative enough. That whole process gives us 2 sides who can't give ground to each other. If they do give ground, they have significant concerns of losing to people who are more extreme in their politics.

They all voted for a loser and they've been trying to correct it ever since. Couldn't do it with "collusion" so now we're just going to eliminate the EC.

This is largely true but base voters in both parties usually dictate the positions that the candidates run on. A pro-life Democrat rarely wins elective office unless that district is strongly pro-life. Conversely a tax-cutting Republican rarely wins party support for increasing taxes unless that district is already inclined to do so.

She was dumb enough to go against Bills advice and nap through Michigan and Wisconsin.
Like myself, I imagine she never thought blue collar workers would think a billionaire rich kid con man would champion their interests.

Yeah I know. Except he focused on blue collar workers and she focused on minorities. When she said she would put a lit of miners out of work everyone heard their job in place of miners.

All those minorities who now have jobs in record numbers certainly do feel they've been conned.

Nah, she knew we blue collar, redneck types in Michigan ccouldn't stand her fake ***. Problem being, as is usually the case with democrats, she took the black vote for granted. Too many brothers in Saginaw, Flint, and the Big D stayed home.

Never will be in favor of getting rid of EC. Idiots that change their minds on the subject due to one outcome over another are simply idiots. I hope a minimum amount of individuals in our government will ever say they want to go a popular vote beauty pageant for the presidential election.

Do you really understand the reasons for the electoral College an what t provides for our form of government? Without it's powerful normalizing factor this Country of United States would become "the big 3, 4, or 5 power broker elitists" and 45 or more relatively insignificant serfdom slaves. Not what was envisioned when the folks were attempting to establish a 'FREE society' with equality as a key element. The selfish Dem Socialists are, apparently, only interested in their desire for personal power over as many 'slaves' as they can become responsible for the creation.
Sad that we have so many with so little regard for anyone and anything but themselves. How do these power hungry Dems really differ from Stalin pr others who subscribe to the same philosophy and agenda?

Idiotic post. We elect members of Congress to prevent exactly what you are describing...and ironically, they are elected by ...wait for it....wait....popular vote.

That is true. This is a national election in which the one vote is representative of the state. Country is United States of America. One state shouldn't be more important than another and is why the EC has one set that is equal and one set that is representative of the population following the two houses of Congress. It is brilliant in my view which can be disputed.

Going to a straight popular vote, presidential candidates will not attempt to get lower populated areas to vote. Bad idea to turn our election into this type of process. But disagree as much as you want.

Another idiotic post! Congressional Representatives may be elected by popular vote but they are apportioned by population. California's delegation is a hell of a lot bigger than West Virginia's. In a presidential election West Virginia's votes and voice still count despite California's larger population. Oh but let's just allow California and New York to select our President. [eyeroll]
