Not sure how bad the weather is out east, but it will be 30 below 0 in Ames for the WV game Wednesday. Wind chill will bring that down to -50.

Do you have an indoor arena?

Odds are you guys will win. I never count us out but we are not better than ISU this year.

No disrespect, but you can have Houston. I'll take my 4 seasons any day.

The cold front dropped in last night.
It hasn't reached 50 yet.
It gets cold on the Gulf sometimes. Last year was bad. The sea turtles got cold stunned and were taken down to South Texas.

It is like up North in the summer. You may have a few bad days but it is usually mild.

Yeah the weather in Houston is always great, never a problem....

Places like Nebraska, Kansas and Iowa are the worse of both.
Cold winters and hot summers.

Houston in the summer...
You know when it gets real hot and humid it is about to rain.
The days when the sky doesn't break and it is slightly humid are a lot worse.

But....
I have been traveling back and forth working in the Philippines for the last few years.
The Gulf has nothing on the Philippines.

Any completely flat, barely above sea level community prone to hurricanes is off my list.

No thanks.

I grew up in the snow belt....i can shovel snow, I cant shovel a hurricane.

Matters where you live...
Hurricane Ike followed the same path that the infamous 1900 Hurricane travelled.
That path is very rare as most hurricanes will turn North between a certain latitude and never enter the Gulf.

Anywhere around Galveston County is bad when that happens.

Truthfully what is more dangerous are Tropical Storms that don't move.
Allison and Harvey.
Harvey hit down around Port Aransas and Rockport.
Most of the time that storm would have pushed off to the West, North or Northeast.

I am not a basketball fan, but I think the game is indoors and they have heat. However, if the game is outside, let me know. I'd love to see a basketball game played in the elements. I'll time in for that.

Otherwise, I'll check back in in March.

Freak occurances aside....

In places like Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska. You have to deal with bitter cold and then long hot summers.
Kansas City is probably one of the worse cities to live in.
Days under 50 and Days over 95 are probably more than anywhere else in the country

Call it whatever you want...underwater is underwater.

That can be easily fixed.
I think you will see that with new construction.

A lot more raised foundations.
You see people going to this so their insurance cost go down.
Especially because of the issue with flood insurance.

But...
Houston only drains the land for maybe 1/3 of Texas.
New Orleans drains the land for maybe 1/3 of the United States

Didnt you say you lived not too far from Lake Erie.
Probably nice in the summer for the most part but you can't get away from the cold and lake effect snow in the winter.

At least unlike a place like Kansas City or even Memphis you don't get the worse of both.

We get lots of snow. Most in the country almost. The Lake Effect dumps until the lake freezes, if it does.

Its not that cold comparably. Its very cold, but not as bad as Chicago or Ames. The wind off the lake can be pretty brutal if you are along the shore.

Cold and snow doesnt bother me at all. Summers are nice but summer is nice everywhere.

I was born and raised in Northeast Texas on Caddo Lake. That is cold compared to Houston. After living in Southern California and now Southeast Texas even NE Texas is too cold for me .
Especially because I have bad circulation in my hands. My hands get blue with anything under 40 degrees.

When it gets cold like last night I like to use the smoker to remind me when I was younger.

:boxing:Chicago...
Los Angeles
New York

Houston is dead set on passing Chicago....
I like Chicago. In June it is a great city. Alive and full of life. Not so much in January
