Proved me wrong today.

Hands are bigger than normal.
Might help him in the draft.

Sills though has smaller hands and arms than normal for a WR

Especially playing in Seattle.

That is why Seattle jumped up to get Wilson.

A lot of his play is fakes and moving with the ball in a position to throw it.

Hand size allows him to do so without it slipping out of his grip.

Check out Washington St's QB
His hands are 10 1/4 as well.

This goes back to another Seattle QB who played in a dome but fumbled the ball a lot in Dave Kreig

Rumor is that he had small hands.

Um
may I "interject"..

His "ball security" was
directly related to his footwork ...

If his footwork was better he'd escaped most of the trouble which caused his difficulties..

His arm accuracy, Impressive on any standard...
His footwork, below average...

Good stuff. Thanks for the info. Interesting to me that the 2 smallest guys have the biggest hands. Who woulda thunk?

Walter Payton had a restaurant in Aurora with a small museum of his career There was a cast of his hands....they were enormous. He was only 5"10.

PS - The Major had/has huge hands as well. In some of the pictures his hand is damn near wrapped around the entire football.

Least he cut his hair and beard.
Someone thought I was Will Grier and said some obscene things about me the other day.
Mainly about not playing in the bowl and fumbling against Oklahoma.
Flip the ******* the bird. So if that was any of you I apologize but I think you owe me two Tallcans.

I wondered about the arm lengths when I saw them too. I'm a little over 6-3 and have arms like an orangutan, as do most of the men in my family. I thought it was normal until I had to start wearing suits?

Dave Krieg, there's a name I haven't heard in ages. I figured he was in a cement block in Puget Sound feeding the fish?

Has Sills run for them yet? I understand Jennings put up some blazing times. Sills route running is good. Is he fast enough to create separation against NFL DB's?

You have to wait for the combine.

What is funny?
Is that Texas commit S Tyler Owens.
As a 18 year old already has NFL ready speed and broad jump ability.
First person his length to broad jump 11 feet 2 inches.

Craziest highlight is of him chasing down a player who has a 11 second 100 time in high school.

I know...I was pointing out that 11 is pretty fast.

It would win the state high school championship pretty much every year in West Virginia.
But....
This is why WV has to recruit out of state.
The record in Texas is not official but was 10.13 in 1986.
Traditionally the state championship runs a 10.25 to 10.4.

Most Southern states are like this as well as the West Coast.
Most of the athletes on the West Coast originally were from Texas and Louisiana.

Are we talking 100 yards or 100 meters?

Even in 100 meters the PA high school record is 10.44.

And for 100 yards it is 9.5.

The WV state record is 10.98.
11 is track speed in the 100 for a 17 year old.

16 Boys 100 Meter Dash A 10.98 5/21/2005 Brandon Belcher - Williamson

Townes, the state of WV has a crazy rule that a kid can only set a state record in the state championship meet. James Jett, Olympian and former fastest man in the NFL ran well below the "official" record time in his HS career as did Randy Moss in his sophomore year at Dupont. (It was the only year he ran track, Moss liked baseball.) They didn't do it in the championship heats or finals in Charleston, so it didn't count.

One thing I have noticed since I moved back to WV, is lack of interest by both kids and the public in track and field. The old "Gazette Relays" not only pulled the best track programs in the state, but from surrounding states. Now a regional track meet might haul teams in from an hour away. It's just the way it is.

Track was always off season conditioning for football.
Truthfully kids wanted to play winter or spring sports because if not you had to do group workouts for 1 and a half hours.
If you ever did a group workout you would understand how you would hate someone telling you up or down.
Did get you ready for the military.

I think in all states track is declining.

It is still somewhat popular in Texas but nothing like the 1980's and 90's.

Jett was the same time as Henry Neal
The guy who still holds the record for the 100 in high school.

But the reason is because of how time is kept

A lot of track relays do not have the equipment to accurately measure time.

Neal's record is official but it has been claim to be broken numerous times in Texas and out of state.

They say an Auburn WR recruit from last year broke it.
Anthony Schwartz.

Yup, in my day it was three guys with stopwatches, even at the State Meet. I'm pretty sure that's why the 10.98 is the official record, 2005 is about the era electronic timing became widespread here on the HS level.

Jett ran a 10.3 at a HS meet in the Eastern Panhandle in '88 or '89 but that was a standard three stopwatch time. My guess would be it equates to a 10.6 electronic, but that's just a guess? He was 200 meter man, he didn't get up to speed until midway in the curve. He was world class at that event when he was at WVU.

Dropping men's track is one of more boneheaded moves the WVU Ath. Dept. ever made.

Jett was fast. The name was perfect for him.
200 and 400 are probably the events you see the better athletes at.
Football is about short burst of speed. Usually why they go by 40 time.

Surprised WV didn't add men's track when you joined the conference.

I think they added swimming and diving in both men's and women's.
