Ok, they just had an updated segment on CNN on this issue including a statement from the student in the video. I will say I appreciate the kid's comments and I commend him on his comments. The segment also showed a ton of what happened prior to the confrontation in question and that was with this black hebrew group (I forget their real name they went by). Their comments towards the high schoolers were very inappropriate and I would say they were racist and anti-American. The video showed the high schoolers reacting to some of this confrontation and it wasn't good either, imo. This is when the Native Americans entered the picture and the viral video went on from there.

I still maintain I denounce the actions of the youths caught in the video mocking the Veteran Native American and other actions they were doing before that incident. Only thing I regret is my misunderstanding that the Vet was doing a peaceful protest. I don't regret anything I can recall saying in this thread to any individual and certainly do not apologize except one possible thing below. I am recognizing that there is indeed more to the story and it is apparent now. It is a very unfortunate incident and it is a damn shame these High Schoolers got in the middle of it but the biggest problem of this whole thing is in fact that third group being the black hebrew group. I denounce them more than the youths after seeing what was presented.

I will say dave was right in one of his comments from earlier about it was high schoolers being high schoolers and now having everything in context, that is very correct. If I did respond to that comment which I don't think I did and am too lazy to look, I do apologize to dave for that specific part of this conversation. I do not support any expulsion or suspension of these kids but I do hope they have learned something from this and if ever in a similar situation, act differently with more maturity.

As I said, I would show my character if indeed the story turned out to be somewhat different and in fact it has. But it isn't what some tried to make it out to be in their piss poor attempt at attacking me. I hope they also see and understand the full picture as well but I don't hold out any hope in that. Objectivity is not a strength in the past.
You wrongly claimed those kids were racists. Kids. You’re deplorable.

I’d say the adult chaperones failed these kids substantially. I’d also say that a MAGA hat shouldn’t be a lightening rod for rage against racism.

During group protests, thinking clearly takes a back seat to emotion and team centered aggression. On all sides, this happened here. One side should’ve been aware of the act of throwing insults at a group of teenagers is despicable. And one side should’ve realized that MAGA hats and tomahawk chants were not ok either at this protest.

I don’t blame the teens. I blame the adult chaperones for not leading the teens away and not standing up for them.

So, just so I’m tracking here, the teens and their chaperones had the obligation to retreat and allow their individual liberty to be trampled because “minority”?

The Covington kids were there for another reason than the Indians. They had gone after their even to the Lincoln Memorial to sight-see. Another group started hurling insults at them. Philips then decided to insert himself into the picture by advancing on the Covington kids...he wasn't trying to get anywhere...his intention was to approach them. Now you tell me what those kids did wrong? Tell me why the MAGA hats are wrong - and don't make up some ******** that those hats are offensive..

The chaperones had the obligation of moving a school sponsored group away from aggressive groups at a protest. They were waiting for buses.

No, they absolutely don’t have an obligation to retreat from the public forum. That’s the most ludicrous thing I’ve ever heard.

I think they can be seen as offensive by some, but my op said it absolutely should not be seen as a lightening rod by anyone.

The chants were aggressive. Come on. Both groups were aggressive here, and it’s just not acceptable. Yelling offensive comments at a group of teenagers, for whatever reason, is despicable. Kids should have been led away by the chaperones immediately, imo.

Classic example of victim shaming. This is no different than saying the parents should not have allowed Sally to wear those yoga pants. She was just asking for it. Where were the kids supposed to go? They were told to meet there so that they could get on their bus and get back to KY. That is exactly what they did.

This is getting weird as the kids were there to support a pro life rally. The Native Americans were there to support their Native American culture. What was the other group there for? To attack any and every person that was not black. The 2nd video confirmed that the Native American's sided with the other group and went against white teenagers, even though the 3rd group was bashing them even before the kids got there. If the NA would have approached the 3rd group and protected the kids, they would have been hero's in my book. Instead they joined the other group and went after a bunch of white teenagers. THIS IS HOW MESSED UP TDS IS IMPACTING OUR COUNTRY.

Who was chanting aggressive chants...not the Covington kids. Who approached who and got in the face of who? This is all on the man with the drum, yet no one wants to acknowledge that.

It’s a school trip. They were not there to sightsee, they were not there for protest, they were waiting on buses. Told to be there by their chaperones at that time, and they shouldve been protected.

It’s absurd for you to think that chaperones for teenagers on a school sponsored trip should allow the group of students to escalate a dangerous confrontation with an aggressive group pushing confrontation.

In retrospect, it was a setup. The jew black dudes provoked, and the fake vet was the fall guy.

I find it very interesting that CNN has started to report on the other video, except that they will not acknowledge that the Phillips could be viewed as instigator. They skip over the fact that he went into the crowd completely and instead try to make him out as protector of peace. They did turn against the 3rd group who I am not sure what exactly they are. Are they Jewish?

The tomahawk chant was used to offend, maybe justified, but it was meant to offend.

The Covington kids were doing school cheers, that’s been confirmed. You know how rowdy those Catholic school cheers can be. /eye roll emoji

The irony here, the kids were standing up against the actual racists and bigots who were yelling anti-gay ****. Instead of acknowledging that aspect, the kids are attacked because they’re white and wore MAGA hats.

One thing is clear, Bru was abused in this thread.

Victim shaming again. But they chanted the FSU thing, must be racist, they deserve to be attacked. They started yelling school cheers to drown out all of the racist stuff that was being yelled at them. I find it realistic that making the FSU chant was just another chant to drown out being cussed out by grown adults.

I find it interesting that fault can’t be found on both groups here. Everyone has to support their team I guess

He lied about that and lied about what the students were saying. Moreover, he himself said some racist **** talking about “White People” running roughshod over his people’s land.

Defend him at your peril.
