I feel your anger! The Nuns and the Jesuit Priests who taught me how to read were above the pay grade of most Government employed indoctrinators. I can see how well they performed your particular labotomy.
My affinity for posters who'd rather call names than defend their positions is sort of like what I had for my last bout of diaherrea.

My initial response Mule my Man is always to be respectful when I'm respectfully treated. I believe that's the case with you since you've never descended into the name calling abyss. If I "like" a post, usually it's because some aspect of the OP I agree with. I don't "like" a post because I agree with any name calling or insults...although I'm human and some of 'em are pretty funny.
However my basic "MO" and first instinct is to be respectful when I'm respectfully treated. I'm never the one who starts off with the insults, and I generally avoid them (or try to) except for some posters who know of no other way to have a healthy exchange of ideas. For those few, I try to choose my words carefully, with the full authorship of an effective and hopefully creative retaliatory response to their unwarranted nastiness...within my own self imposed limits of decorum.
You'll never read me backing down when I'm insulted, but you won't see me crawling into the gutter to get even either. If more conducted themselves on this forum like you, this place might be actually interesting. I've always respected the way you present your arguments and I hope you experience the respectful reciprocity from me.
To your point...in post #12 I was simply characterizing a typical Leftist's response on this forum to a typical question I might normally ask, highlighting how most of them descend into name calling or personal smears instead of defending what they believe or offering effective alternatives to any Trump policies they disagree with. No name calling here:

In this particular post, (#16) I was not only responding to the OP @wvu2007 who accused another poster of being Homosexual, but I also used that particular gif to underline that poster's strongly stated support for Men who prefer Sex with other men. I doubt he'd disagree (@Boomboom521 ) that he supports such Men and their preferences for Sex with those of their same gender, and my admonishment of him to "rock on Dude" wasn't accusing him of being Homosexual, but in fact underscored his support for them! Rather than call him names, I used that gif to highlight his ongoing support for their lifestyle choices. I thought it was more clever than insulting. Actually more funny than demeaning. I mean look at the Dude in that Zebra suit! Ain't he cute? [roll]

How about this one @mule_eer ? How should @Brushy Bill have responded to this unwarranted insult on him? More importantly, when this particular poster (OP) engages members on this forum with language such as this, how should he be treated or responded to?

You cannot expect to receive what you are first not willing to give. You can be respectful at times, and when you are I always return it. However you are also one of the absolute nastiest posters on this forum and when you are also that way, you get back what you offer or deserve.

boomer often insults people for no reason other than he gets emotionally distraught with anyone who either disagrees with him or challenges him to explain his positions. I agree with you, there is no need for anyone to insult anyone else when expressing a difference of opinion on an opinion message board! We all hold tightly to our beliefs, but that does not give any of us the right to insult others for thinking differently.
I enjoy a healthy exchange of ideas...but that is difficult with many on the Left who simply resent being challenged or disagreed with so they lash out with epithets like "you're stupid", or "you're a moron"...etc...etc...simply because someone either disagrees with them or points out factual opposition to their positions.
You are one of my favorite Leftists...you don't get insulted when I characterize your base positions as such, even if you don't agree with that. However you ALWAYS are respectful, and you make strong arguments for your positions without the name calling or put downs if someone simply disagrees with you or asks you to defend your ideas. You're a class act, and I wish more on the Center/Left would follow your example.
I am the first to admit I often fall into the "insult trap" when I'm insulted Mule. It's a struggle just as I struggle against Sin itself. We're all Human, imperfect, fallible, gullible, and impressionable. However as I mentioned to you in a previous post in this thread, my first instinct is to be respectful primarily because that's the way I prefer to be treated! If I want respect, I first must be willing to offer it! I honestly try, though I admit often fail.
This is the "Golden Rule" that binds even non believers. The World would be more peaceful, accommodating, maybe even more solution based bi partisan if we all practiced this Religiously (yes I said that word) . However its perfection is such that it works every time it's tried. You are a living example of its Truth as well as its effectiveness. Rest assured you will always have my respect, even when we disagree because you've earned it.

At one point we had a 90% tax rate..but no one paid it...not even Leftists. They (along with everyone else) took every damn deduction legally allowed to pay as little as possible and they STILL DO even while bitching and complaining about all the evil rich who arent paying their "fare share"
The top 20% of all wage earners pay well over half of all income taxes collected. Leftists don't send in a dime extra of their own incomes, even after their "fair share" is deducted...or...er....paid.
I just find it comical if not altogether hypocritical that Leftists advocate for higher tax rates they themselves never pay! It's like complaining that the Trump tax cuts were just crumbs that they all voted against but have already voted to take back!
