its already been mentioned in this thread a former Sun Belt conference coach saw the kid play this year and said he would start at most of those schools right now. Its also been mentioned that jumped to the Big 12 is huge but if Lowe does not work out then it opens up the debate yet again

So why didn't any of them offer?

There is a lot of great information on how to control your reptilian mind.
A lot of people only used a small portion of their mind that is based on animalistic instinct.

But not everyone wants to improve their current situation

Well, if you don't want to improve yourself, don't know how I can help. You are so cute.

Forgive me for a moment because I am going to sound like a "homer", but this needs to be said. If the West Virginia state Gatorade Player of the Year says he wants to attend WVU and play football for the Mountaineers, then he should be offered a scholarship ON THE SPOT.

WVU is the STATE funded university. Holgy should have offered on general principle alone.

Then you let the kid come in and give him the chance to prove he can play at this level. If not, and he wants transfer to where he can play, you help him get there and you wish him well.

Why do this? Because the next Gatorade player of the is watching. And his name might be Curt Warner?

Football has really changed.

Before teams would play 2 Tight End sets with a Fullback and play in a box

Then strength and determination was all you needed.

Now....
Football is from sideline to sideline and played 20-30 yards passed the LOS on every play.

You need speed and athletic ability.

So ..you have to recruit to that.
If a recruit isn't fast enough it doesn't matter how much heart he has.

A good portion of good players in the NFL and CFB from 1986 wouldn't play today.
And some players from that era would be All Americans that were overlooked

Best example of this is Quentin Coryatt.
He was a great CFB player and the second overall pick in the draft.
But...
In today's NFL he would be an All Pro.
He would have been a 3 time All American LB.

He was that fast and could cover that much ground but in 1995 football was much different and they wanted him to be a downhill LB like Mike Singletary

Lowe is better than Allison but they may not say much. Hopefully Lowe gets a shot in the bowl game.

Tar Heel my prediction is based off a healthy Konate and Culver being here the whole time with no suspension and in shape. My prediction never had a shot because Konate has missed time and hurt and a Culver got suspended and hasn’t played. Even Beetle was out a few games and missed weeks of practice. My prediction was based off everybody playing and healthy.

1. Robert Lowe is very athletic and raw. The jury is still out weather he ever plays QB at WVU

2. At this point Jake Allison is not our future at QB

3. We are active in the transfer market
Hearing from whom? Hate un-named sources. Might as well just ne coming from someone's imagination with no factual basis. Gets people excited and coming to cry un-substantiated, faceless conclusions. Meanwhile the one originating the nonsense goes on laughing at the gullibility of the public and college fans in particular.
I see tty whole post as a fabrication without the least hint of who might be spreading such information and whether he is anywhere near the eli-center where he might hear such from someone who might know and have some authority over the situation. For now---total garbage.

You are amazing junior. Now you have a complete understanding of NFL talent. And to think you could be in NYC or LA instead of Sage Brush, Tx. Pity.

You think Brian Bosworth would be a Butkus Award winner today.

He would be forced to play DE.

No positions have changed as much as LB and DE in modern football

They need to get Tyson Bagent on transfer. He can sit out this fall and practice and have 3 years after that. Why not? We don’t recruit other QBs worth a **** anyways.

Lowe could eventually be good but he played against weak small competition down in Tennessee. He looked to have potential but I will wait and see because Dana doesn’t recruit QBs worth a **** from high school.

Allison is not a starter. No way. Too slow and immobile. He is a solid backup. Allison will get Dana fired.

It alarms me that 3 people liked your post. Jack Allison has more D1 TD passes than Tyson Bagent. Just sayin'

Steve Dunlap left when Nehlen did, the 20th century.

BTW, you & you're sockpuppets haven't mentioned how small "Robert Lowe's" hands are. Why they're practically Trumpian in size. You're slacking.

keno is agreeing that we are going hard after a grad transfer QB....so that seems like all we should know about our QB's in school

Allison is not starting material and Dana won’t give a dual threat a shot at QB. We all knew a grad transfer was coming.

The only debate is in your own head or with the resident idiot on this board, wvpride or whatever.

If we are in the market for a QB, we need to be going after kids with P5 experience, not anyone slinging it around at Sheperd, lol.

So my update is I think there is real regret from our staff on how Tyson was handled last year. WVU cant recruit Tyson now because it would be a violation. The ship has sailed. So, to answer your question WVU is going going after TB.

And he is no longer with the team.

It’s funny how the OP claimed to have an “inside scoop” but doesn’t know who is currently on the coaching staff.
I didn't have the scoop...that is the person that started this thread...but Keno has confirmed we are in the market for a grad transfer at QB

I think some people really missed the boat on this kid...I think Dana should at the very least hand placed this kid at a prep school and then brought him in...I saw him play several times this year and some of the throws he made amazing and then figure in he was only 17 years old...if he does not get hurt he will finish his career at Shepherd with over 10,000 yards passing and well over 100 TD passes...this is HOF stats
I think WVU should bring him in. It would take him making first contact. He should give them a call. We have 2 openings this year why not take a flyer with him since we did not get a hs qb.

Ed Oliver is a perfect example.
Will be a three time All American this year...

But he was a 6'3 270 DT...now up to 290
In 1998 he wouldn't be on the DL.
Ed Oliver would have been a MLB.

Not big enough to play DT and too short to play DE.

Goes back....

To the original argument.
You can easily get stronger and bigger but getting faster is not that easy
Explosiveness can be taught but speed and ability to cover large sections of the field cannot.

If Darrell Green was in CFB today he would be playing WR.
Green was one of my favorite football players in history.

Everyone wants big corners. Green was a beast but he was better suited for the play action pass era of the NFL.

When teams wanted players like Willie Gault.

Other than the well known fact that we're always looking at the transfer market, that's pretty much the exact opposite of what I'm hearing. Then again, all I hear comes straight from a couple of members of the current staff, so what do they know? BTW, you may want to tell your source that it's "Trey" (not Robert) Lowe. [thumbsup]
