how so? we hired assistant coaches to be head coach since 1976..(yes I know Nehlen, Rod, and Stewart had been HC's before at small programs)..his dad was a good recruiter but had four losing seasons.

I wouldn't know Curt Cignetti if he walked through the door. He is in his early 60s I imagine. Not exactly the norm for first time HC at the P5 level.

I always cheer Mountaineers, even after they leave Morgantown.
His dad was sick, that's true. And he did well at Indiana of Pa. But a lot of people do well at that level who would never be a good head coach at WVU.
Too early to tell about Cignetti's kid. Bobby Bowden's kid did well at Auburn and at Akron won about as often as anyone had for 42 years. Not a winning career there. But Akron doesn't create winning coaching careers.
I also wished Terry well at Akron and wherever he goes next.
Once a Mountaineer, always in my heart.
Now, let's see if WVU can get in gear without Grier in Orlando! I'll be watching. There are NO meaningless bowls. They have meaning for those who play in them, for example. Some bowls are just shinier objects than others.

Curt is in his mid-50's.

There was late nut I knew that was friends with Dave Dejarnett (?) and Curt. The year the new stadium opened, he was able finagle tickets towards the fieldhouse end of the bench. The guy had a loud voice, a real "boomer". Every time Luck with throw an iffy pass, he'd bellow out, "Put Cignetti in!" which would lead to him getting pelted with cups and little liquor bottles.

You could hear him everywhere in the stands. The players would be cracking up at his antics.

An argument could be made that JMU was the best team in Virginia this year. I would love to see them do what Appalachian State did and move into the FBS. I’m not only saying this because I live within 30 mins of Harrisonburg and I’m friends with their kicker.
