Biggest game of 2019

I know the 2019 football season doesnt start for 9 months, but the biggest game of 2019 may be played in Orlando in a couple weeks.
The team loses some incredible talent, but has a ton of experienced starters returning .With the likes of Marcus Simms, TJ Simmons, Martel Petteway, Leddie Brown, Haskins, and Sinkfield along with several lineman that have played alot, the offense has weapons.
The key though, is Jack Allison and getting to play the bowl game may turn out to be the biggest game of next year for the team. If we win and Allison plays well, start the hype train for 19. The confidence will be sky high and the team will follow him as thier leader through spring and pre season next year. Without this game, he goes into next year unproven and cant be the leader a good team needs. A loss will hurt but not as much as a win will help, so its almost a everything to gain, nothing to lose . i was a little angry when Grier decided not to play, but based on the circumstances, it may turn out to be a blessing in disquise .

The irony for me is; had Grier and Cadjust (spelling?) played in the game, it would have been a bit ho hum for me. Not exactly thrilled at playing Syracuse in a minor bowl. Now, with Allison as the starter, the game has piqued my interest. Anxious to get a sense of what next years team might look like.

Big XII had terrific ratings this year because of Texas...
Most likely the Big XII will use Texas because Sam Ehlinger is a familiar name plus the name itself is familiar.

If the Big XII could get two more schools that drive ratings then this conference would move pass the B1G.

Iowa St is really trying to be the third.
They want to be the new Nebraska.

Because everyone knows KU and that ugly bird. KU could become the fourth.

Hopefully WV stakes a claim as well.
They are a fun team to watch.

High powered offense...Is what OU has.

They can do almost anything they want on the field because their OL in man blocking schemes can get a 5 yard push on almost every team.

OU is a team you have to force to play from behind.

OU loses their entire OL next year pretty much.
This will be bigger than Kyler Murray especially with a new QB.

Whoever can enter next season with the best OL will win the Big XII.

Texas should be a favorite.
Especially with what is going to go down next week. Texas is going to be the sexy pick.

But...Texas' OLine hasn't been what it should be for the last ten years.

Wvu has a chance to be pretty good next year. IF Allison (or Lowe) can give us solid QB play. Doesn’t need to be Grier obviously but solid qb play could get us 8-9 wins.

Plenty of skill players returning on offense and the line should have 6 of top 9 back. defense especially if Long comes back will be most expiernced since at least 2015.

You need as least adequate QB play and OL play

If not you become TCU of 2018.

OL is a group that you expect injuries.
No OL plays together all season all game.

Sometimes elite QB play can mask subpar OLine play.
USC 2017 was a perfect example.


Best to throw Allison out there.
He has the potential to be a Sunday QB.
He is not a scrub so it depends on where he is mentally.


Like I said DL games, biltzes and hidden coverages can confuse any QB at the college level.

Lincoln Riley is a huge fan of man blocking.
He went away from it early as a young OU OLine went to zone blocking...
Some of 2015 and 2016.

Watch Anderson highlights the last Two years.
You can tell man blocking because the RB knows the hole before it opens up.
Zone blocking a RB finds a hole unlike man.

Most teams cannot stop it.
When they get a lead they were dangerous because of their OL

Not a lot of college OL's can gap block or man block like OU.

Not sure why Lowe is receiving no positive expectation press. The key is Allison? Maybe. But is it not reasonable to presume Lowe will be fighting for that starting position also? Many on here have expressed nothing but disdain for Allison and see him as an immobile tackling dummy playing QB. Now he is listed as the "key" to our success without even considering the alternative.

I think most think the biggest key to 2019 is just getting solid qb play in general. Allison or Lowe.

If out of necessity we have to keep playing majority zone our defense is going to keep getting torched. How often did we get a team in 3rd and long and give up a first down with zone--the QB just stepping into the throw like he was playing 7-on-7? We need a shutdown corner. Hopefully Miller.

But the experience can't hurt Allison's development.

So far I haven't seen much, but it's been in mopup duty so that's not a fair test.

I'll just enjoy the game, in particular the performances of those Mountaineers who will return in 2019.

I would rather have a slightly athletic QB with a great arm than a
Athletic QB with a below average arm.

If Kyler Murray wasn't able to throw so quick and down field he would have been 1/4 of the QB.

Teams can load the box and play man with QBs that don't have accuracy and arm strength

Problem is most of the things you say are completely illogical.

You make a cake regardless of the ingredients.

Transfered QBs are not finished products.
When they transfer they have to be re recruited.

You don't think anyone else wanted Grier.
If he was a future NFL QB when he transferred you don't think anyone else wanted him.
