I'd like to see them remove party affiliation of candidates on the ballot. It would force people to be informed when they vote.

They do that for judges around here, but partisan PACs still run deceitful campaigns. Not everyone can or wants to be informed.

Too much tribalism these days on both sides. It's becoming too polarized, IMO. No more middle ground. Either extreme left or extreme right. And those people will vote will love their candidates no matter what and hate the opposing candidates no matter what. When in reality, there are some solid options from both sides and other parties too. I just like to create a way to possibly break up the tribalism. You are never going to be able to eliminate it, unfortunately but if you can help break it up some, that would go a long way IMO.

I like the idea of a Civics test. 10 questions. Current events and the makeup of our representative Republic including what district you live in and who your current Representatives are?

70% or better passing grade needed in order to receive a ballot as well as a 1040 tax return showing you actually pay taxes last year and you aren't just voting to take someone else's money.

I think they should have to disclose party affiliation for every office; even the "non-partisan" offices such as judges, supreme court justices, magistrates, etc.

Insane Dems are working on breaking them up on their own.

I agree. Remove party and force candidates to list top 5 priorities if elected
That can be gamed as well. We know what the Dems are going to do and they’ve said as much but it wouldn’t be listed on the ballot. Same for the GOP.

I agree with this completely. Also, the media that stokes tribalism in order to make more money should start to be seen as bad guys. The differences in terms of what policies are dwarfed by their similarity in stoking up hatred and tribalism. IOW, a decent person that disagrees with you politically isn't a bad guy but a sleazy person that agrees with you politically is a bad guy.

lolwut? Have you been in a cave?

I don't get your point. The media stokes tribalism to make money and the response seems to me to generally be, the media that promotes my views while stoking tribalism to make money is okay but the media that is against my views while stoking tribalism to make money is bad. My point is that people ought to be against even the media that promotes their views if that media also stokes tribalism to make money.

Most voters are uninformed, I fear. At least we can try to get people to lock into priorities, and hold them accountable......one good thing I give your boy credit for - although he hasn’t been coming through as much as you think, imo

Right and in what universe has the media NOT been the enemy the last 3-5 years?

Lol, me too!!! Except for the tax return thing, Trump would never buy showing that at the polls.

No, he’s pointing out that that has been the overwhelming sentiment by the right and pushed by Trump. He doesn’t necessarily agree with the point.
The extreme left hates the "mainstream" media and directly blames the NYT and others of Clinton losing the election.

Extreme partisans are irrational. They blame the NYT, CNN, WaPo, etc for all of their Her emails coverage.
I was reading where Philippe Reines still hasn’t gotten over the loss and his allegiance to Her.

My little "poll test" for Leftists...Ans True or False...
(passing means you MUST ans at least 7 as TRUE in order to receive a ballot)

True or False:
  • America is a fair and just country
  • The "rich" are not evil and greedy
  • Capitalism is better than Socialism
  • It's better to trust individuals over Government
  • What one earns belongs to them instead of to Government
  • Most Leftists deny they are Socialists
  • Abortion is murder
  • Freedom requires personal responsibility (and the 2nd ammendment)
  • Democrats lie to get elected
  • You hate Trump
I'd bet most of you Leftists fail this (at least 7 "True" answers are required to pass). Most of you won't/can't answer "True" to any more than 3 of these, although you all will answer "True" to the last one. [winking]

*hint...all the answers are True

Guess we figured out how Roger Stone got the link to our board. Op2 is clearly in Trump’s camp, or inner circle. He agrees, media is the enemy of the people.

Trump says the media is the enemy of the people but he treats well the media that likes him. He doesn't blast Fox like he does CNN. Trump really isn't much different than any other partisan in that respect. The media that likes him are Good Guys and the media that dislikes him are Bad Guys. That's the problem, namely that people define Good and Bad media by that particular medias views instead of by how sleazy they are.

To be fair, the media has lost their collective minds with him. The liberal media would support cancer if he said he cured it, they’ve lost all objectivity. They’ve all dropped to what they whined about Fox for years about, which, little secret here, they were the same as Fox just a different flavor and have been.

I don't think they have "dropped" their phony facade of objectivity, they just aren't trying to hide it anymore.
