2 guys that stepped up today.

Tonk’s sack was impressive- split the double team. He also did a much better job of diagnosing where to go to make plays.

Wesco showed better hands and that YAC was awesome. Could’ve used that TE more once TTU blitzed more.

Tonkery played better and graded out fourth on the defense.

Good to see. We really need him to continue that. Surprised that Jovani Haskins didn’t get more reps. We needed some more quick pass options against blitz. But there were at least 5 drops too. The RPO was there every time. More of that on first down in second half ?

Washington really emerged today. He and Norwood are two pretty good cover corners- better than we had last year. Pitts seems a good athlete and I think just needs more experience- needs to be more aggressive.

Tonkery played better and graded out fourth on the defense.

Good to

We've got some very good TE's and rarely use them Grier needs to exploit the short / middle of the field more instead of trying to go for the home run all the time.

Keatoncornerloser idiot lost again. What’s new. Guy is lost in the head. Wesco is a good player and that’s why he starts. He’s a big monster blocker too and will catch 15 passes or more with 2-3 TDs and we don’t even use TE much.

Wesco blocking and size will get him a shot in the NFL. He’s a physically monster. Big tough WV kid.

Tonkery is going to be a 4 year starter at WVU. That’s because he’s a good LB that will only get better. He’s smart and can play all 3 positions anytime. Good recruit and helped us quickly here. Bridgeport, WV native.

Grier is right about the WVU offense line being a key to his success.

Early on the O line protected Grier magnificently and he destroyed a Texas Tech pass defense that has been inadequate most of the season even though their overall defense looked stronger.

But the TT defensive line was just so much stronger and more physical in the long run than the WVU offensive line. Once the battering got the better of the WVU O line the discombulation of the Mountaineers' game kicked into high gear and led to the 21-point TT run of unanswered points.

Few expected WVU to shut down TT's offense, but the defense did early in the game because Grier's magnificent performance pumped energy into the defense. As the offensive line caused the WVU offense to stumble, it put more and more pressure on the defense. That and the TT talent on offense led to the TT comeback.

It's hard to knock the defense when you stack up the good against the bad because it had 3 interceptions, including the game-saving pick-6 51-yarder by Keith Washington at a critical moment in the game.

If TT had gotten a TD and 2-point PAT at that time, a reeling WVU would have been in serious jeopardy. After all, TT was at midfield and moving fairly comfortably as it had been during the 21-point unanswered run.

But this is what makes college football so exciting and fun, as long as it doesn't make your Pacemaker explode!

Wesco showed a lot on that catch and run. Probably his best play of career. Against these better B12 pass rushes, could the TE be a weapon that spavital uses more?
