the game should be rolled to the end of the season and played if and only if both teams are not playing in their conference title games.

If there is an available venue to play the game and they refuse they should forfeit. No way should WVU be forced into a bad situation or have 2 games adjusted to accommodate them.

There is no way in hell WVU would play Iowa State only 5 days after playing NC State.
I agree. I'd rather play Iowa State October 20 and play Baylor in Morgantown on Thursday with a short week. THAT makes the most sense. I don't think Iowa State would object to October 13 either. Makes the most sense. But everyone is tossing out ideas. With North Carolina State cancelling classes from 5 p.m. Wednesday on, the game is NOT going to be played this weekend in Raleigh.

IIRC A year or two ago FL and LSU had a similar scenario and one of the schools came out looking like complete asses. Not sure how it ended up being resolved.

I have a feeling, both schools will wait and see what plays out with the regular season, and if neither teams are in their conference championship games, the game will be played on 12/1.

I would just wait and see what happens. If this area gets hit with 10 inches or more of rain from R, F, & S as is probable IF PREDICTIONS OF THE PATH ARE CORRECT, there's gonna be s lot of flooding. A football game is not gonna be that important compared to the health of the area and use of EMS, Police, and Fire/Rescue resources. Risk/Reward is what we're talking about.

SC got nailed 2 years back and had a lot of flooding at Columbia. They were in conference play and could make schedule adjustments. I think USC played a game at LSU as a home game because it was supposed to be played at Williams Bryce. LSU beat them but gave them all the $$$$ from the gate and took up donations. LSU even had their band play the SC fight songs, etc. They also moved a Tennessee game that season to a Sunday in Columbia.

JMO but If you can't play it when it was agreed upon (date and time) due to weather and no consensual date and time can be agreed upon, then cancel it. Not that big of a deal.

As for the extra game stuff, WVU plays 10 P5 opponents this season without NC State, very few schools are playing more than that.

Agree. at this point, cancel it. In addition, moving it to Morgantown for Saturday would still end up a rainy mess. NOAA Rain Map showing Morgantown in the 2-4 inches of rain area, at least for now. I was looking forward to this one, but it's not all that critical.

Another complication.

State Fair in Raleigh is October 13 and traditionally there are no home games in Raleigh the week of the State Fair to avoid horrendous traffic and crowd problems.

We'll see if football or State Fair is more important in Raleigh since October 13 is the only sensible option, with Iowa State and WVU playing October 20.

I just saw NC State-Raleigh, i.e. The main campus and where the game is to be, is suspending classes from 5 PM Wed through Sunday.

UNC the blatant cheating place also cancelled classes 5 PM Tues-Sunday.

I doubt this game happens

Obviously, you don't know me. I drink Pepsi. I probably don't drink a 6-pack in 6 months or a bottle of wine in a year.

That's probably why my brain still works so well with my 86th birthday coming up November 5.

The state fair complication makes things worse. I fail to see why the Baylor game must be played on Thursday. Does the loss from not having the game outweigh the cost of posting off TV folks who want the Thursday night game? Sounds like the only true viable option is to wait and play it 12/1 if neither team is in their conference championship. Which sucks because I want WVU in the Big XII championship, but I've been looking forward to the Mountaineers coming to my neck of the woods since the game was announced.

Another possibility:

NC State comes to Morgantown October 13, 2019 because game is switched from Raleigh.

That doesn’t interfere with the State Fair in Raleigh October 13.

For WVU, that means NOT using 2 travel days to get to 2 consecutive road games. So, even though Baylor game is following Thursday, saving 2 travel days partially makes up for that. And it’s Baylor, not TCU, Oklahoma or Oklahoma State.

As long as Iowa State agrees to move its WVU game from October 13 to October 20, that would work.

WVU could issue tickets to season ticket holders in their usual seats, maybe for a nominal $50 per seat to cover their rush handling costs. Others could go online and buy single-game tickets. Via the Internet this could be handled since the game would be a month away.

We’ll see. I’m sure the NC State and WVU athletic directors have included this possibility for the rescheduling if the hurricane hits, which seems like a certainty. They don’t need me to tell them what to do. I’m just spitballing ideas.

Gives extra time to heal up some bruises and sprains. There is always a bright side on the other side of the storm.
