Hottest game I had ever coached. It was mid 90's with feels like over 100.

I had kids done in the second quarter. Called our timeouts only for rest/water. One, our kicker didn't even want to go kick off, so we used the play clock, then called timeout, then told him to use the playclock on the backside of the timeout to just stand there. So many subs and kids playing positions they hadn't been in before, it was the most I'd ever had to think in a game.

Game finished around 8, sun was starting to go down, and it was still 89. Varsity games will be unbearable tonight, I'm gonna stay home.

All that to say, that Charlotte game was hotter the entire time. Be impressed with our coaching staff.

Can't you all push the start time back?

The refs should have got the coaches to agree, before kickoff, to allow one extra "officials' timeout" per half.

No, we can't push it back, school night and all.

We did, an extra official timeout per quarter, and it still wasn't enough.

The funny thing, under new state law this year, we wouldn't have been able to practice under those conditions. 90 and above, no pads during strenuous activity, which hit us during all three practices this week. But they allow us to play.
