B1G is top heavy.
Similar to the Big XII in 2000-2001.

A lot of Top 15 teams but no real depth.

I actually think Tech in the Big XII could be considered a program who will garner AP votes come Sept.

They return 10 starters on D

I'm not sure having 10 starters back on a defense that gave up 60 points a game is a good thing, but that's just me.

Don't know about 60 but it was high

The best category to rate a defense is defensive efficiency and Tech was 52nd. Slightly better than WVU

Not terrible but not great. Still top half of CFB so average.
You would think that with a slight improvement they can become a Top 30 defense.

This year is unusual as the questions in Lubbock are on their offense.

Tech will garner some votes after starting 3-0 in OOC games. Then disappear when they lose their first 3 conference games.

I like to look at all 3 sides of the ball efficiency.to tell the story of a team. These don't necessarily tell wins or losses, but does show the performance.

8-Oklahoma
12-Oklahoma State
13-TCU
17-Iowa State
28-Texas
30-Kansas State
36-Texas Tech
49-WVU
98-Baylor
123-Kansas

I agree.
The algorithm can be altered some as I still think it has some flaws.
Like with any advance statistic it is what is valued.

Funny thing is that Vegas and gamblers used efficiency for the longest time.

Maybe...
Problem is that last year was the first year I truthfully noticed a huge difference with how Big XII teams play.

The Texas High School system is under going a transformation. Especially in regards to defense.
I think with Jimbo now at A&M you really are going to notice a difference.

I say this because Tech is a very different team. At times they are going to play slow.
Saw a little of this last year.
They had growing pains.
Do not ever underestimate Kliff Kingsbury and his offensive mind.

You can see the conference standings are somewhat close to the ranking

1. Oklahoma
2. TCU
3. Oklahoma State
4. Texas
5. WVU
6. KSU
7. ISU
8. TTU
9. Baylor
10. Kansas

Texas, WVU, Kansas State and ISU all tide with 5-4 records.

I can see why Vegas and gamblers used efficiency for the longest time.

Nobody has to worry about Kliff Kingsbury after this year as he will be looking for a job.

They could fall totally on their face
There is a quiet confidence being developed there.

Funny thing is who they play in week one. Ole Miss and their great WRs.
If he changed his team he will attempt to control the ball and use his passing game to move the chains
Total opposite from when they played in the Cotton Bowl ten years ago.

Tech 6-7 last year
Ole Miss 6-6.

Neither is a great team.

Ole Miss will be even worse than they were last year. They do have very good WRs, but with Shea Patterson transferring to Michigan they won't have a qb who can consistently get them the ball. Their defense is beyond bad.

Shea Patterson was injured early last year.
Jordan Ta'amu was their starter and he is returning.
Looked fantastic when OM got revenge in the Egg Bowl last year

It is the first true barometer of Week 1 for the conference since it is an early game

It is a game that Big XiI fans should care about.
ESPN is backing a future Big XII/SEC war.
Based on rivalries for recruits.
