Curious as to your thoughts or how you would react. Went to a car dealership this weekend to do a second test drive of a vehicle. On first test drive salesman went with me which I would have preferred not to have had but it wasn't a big deal as that was just the first time in the car to even see if I was interested.
Went back this weekend and asked them if I could take the car home as I have a disabled family member and I wanted to see how much difficulty or ease they had getting in the car. To make a long story short they were very hesitant to let me take it out alone. Ended up having to get manager's approval, then I had to sign a test drive agreement that basically stated I was responsible for any damage that occurred to the car and THEN the guy asks me how long I would be gone. I told him given I was going to have to navigate mall traffic, drive home, see if the family member could get in, drive back that probably at least two hours to be safe. He said they could only allow me one hour. Took my cell phone number. So off I go and as I expected it took longer than an hour. An hour and ten minutes later I'm on my way back to the dealership and my cell phone rings. Sure enough it is the sales manager at the dealership calling wanting to know where I was at and why I wasn't back yet.
Just a weird experience to me considering I have had other dealerships to tell me to drive the car home and keep in overnight and bring it back in the morning.
Maybe I'm wrong but it just kinda pissed me off. (By the way, total cost of the car was $41,000 so not like we're talking high end stuff here).
