Pay gains during Trump's first year in office best since the Great Recession
  • The Employment Cost Index, a measure of salary and benefit costs, registered a 2.6 percent gain for the full year, tied for the best since 2007.
  • That gives President Donald Trump the best wage gains since the Great Recession, easily topping any during former President Barack Obama's entire term.

Yeah, but it's still Obama's economy.[eyeroll]

It seems like just yesterday someone was trying to say the facts suggest Trumps economy isnt really that good.

It is bolstered by the tax cuts and government spending. You are an engineer so I don't expect you would understand economics. nevertheless, my biggest issue with the Obama years was the stagnant wage growth. 6 years of economic growth and completely flat wages. Nobody seems to understand how/why that happened. I am glad wages are increasing.

I understand economics better than most. Wages were flat because the supply and demand for jobs was flat. There were people out of the job markt not being counted against uneployment. The demand is getting ahead of the demand and companies got abig tax cut so they have money to hire.

I am sure Trump policy and presence had a great impact in the growth. But, I still contend the economy would have jumped, no matter who was in office. All that was needed was for the government to get out of the way.

Too much money sitting on the sideline idle. All of that money wanted to be put to work to have a reasonable ROI. I guess Trump was the catalyst needed - someone with a business background and basic understanding of Economics. Hillary, Joe and Barnie are eliminated.
2020 stable looks equally weak.
