.....the reason why, of all possible LPGA players, Brittany Lincicome was offered an exemption to this week's PGA Tour event outside Lexington KY ?? Just read about this for the first time earlier this afternoon.
I read her Players Tribune piece, and she's justifiably excited to have received the invite.....and not that anyone should give two ***** what I think, I myself have no problem whatsoever with her participation. I freely admit that's not how I was feeling in the days when Michelle Wie was thinking, for some unknown reason, she might actually deserve playing with the guys. From what I can tell, no such talk this week from BL.
But it's not like she's an LPGA shining star; she's a solid.....if hardly spectacular.....player who I myself consider some distance (even with 2 major championships to her credit) from the top of her sport; she's 16th this year in earnings with no wins, though she was tied after 72 holes last week before losing in a playoff. And, while I wouldn't call her ugly, she'll never be mistaken for any of the sexpot Seoul Sisters on the LPGA Tour (let alone a veteran like Natalie Gulbis). Was thinking she might have some personal connection to the area, but no.
Anyway, has anyone heard any TGC discussion on this.....and if so, did they give any perspective on why her rather than anyone else ??
