This is not meant as a shot, but I am sure it will be taken that way.

Considering the cash difference between P5 and G5 schools, and considering how the deck is stacked against G5 schools as far as playing for a national title, do you guys ever miss the old 1AA days? I figure you guys would have 3-4 more national titles if you had stayed in 1AA/FCS.

Games against regional teams. Playing 1-2 FBS schools each year for a paycheck, winning some of those and being nationally relevant in FCS. Less financial strain on the school.

Just wondering.

Playing in CUSA is equal to playing in FCS. It's why they like it so much.

Not really, truthfully there are only 25-30 schools that can compete for a national title in CFB anyhow so why worry over it

No, although I agree with you that the " deck is stacked" against the G-5's.

Purely hypothetical on my part since there is practically zero chance of this scenario. But should Marshall go 12-0 with only two P-5's on their schedule, while at the same time WVU would happen to go 12-0 with 11 P-5's on their schedule..............Who do you think would be more deserving of a chance at the National Championship ? If the G-5's want an equal chance of making the playoff they are going to have to beef up their schedules or forever feel like the deck is stacked against them. That's a fact, Jack.

It would depend on how the opponents fared, if MU defeated USC and NCSU and that loss was the only blemish on the 'pack's and 'cocks record and MU ran the table with the rest of the slate, we'd have a real chance at making the playoffs but I'm much more worried about the RedHawks than I am that scenario playing out.

Tony for that scenario to occur NCSU would have two losses WVU and Marshall.

For MU to have a shot at the playoffs NCSU must defeat WVU! I look for that tilt to blow the score board up and be decided by who has the ball last.

Truly could be a game show-casing the best pro-qbs in the country. I agree that game could be a high-scoring (hope WVU has the last possession) type of game.

I just meant that For the argument to be who is more deserving at season's end Marshall and WVU likely will have to both be undefeated for it to be a conversation. As such, obviously NC State game would have to be a "W" for both.

In any event the Wolfpack will certainly have its fill of Mountain State football.

If WVU beats NCSU 57 to 55 , MU is done for playoff consideration no matter what else happens in the regular season. We must have big time help from the two P-5's on our schedule to be in the discussion of the playoffs, I believe USC and NCSU would have to be 11-1 but now that I think about it, I think they may play each other.

Agree 100% ....I think we'll give 'em all they want in Huntington but not sure we can win and WVU and Grier will light up the scoreboard in Raleigh.

Currituck Club was booked all last week, so we drove down to Duck Woods and I never play and tell. But you guys are pro to my game. I guess I should get out more than twice a year.

finally shot even par 71 after 50 years, although from senior tees, then went out 2 days later and shot 83....go figure
I played only nine with some rednecks this past Saturday. Chipped in from 50 yards out on #1 for an Eagle 2. Then birdied #4, and was three under par through 6 holes. Then the game fell completely apart, and no ****, triple bogied 7, 8, and 9 to finish at six over. Craziest round of golf I've had in many years.

Mini U even undefeated has no shot at playoffs. Look at last year with Alabama making the playoffs but not their conference title. But 2 SEC teams got in before UCF was even thought about. It would take a miracle or 8 teams being added for a shot at the playoffs for a G5. Even then it might take a miracle.

UCF only played one P-5 last year and that was woeful Maryland, MU will play two P-5's this year and both will be in the Top 25. But on the field give me UCF against any of the bunch made the playoff's last season because of backroom politics.

UCF had 2 P5 schools the schedule but this thing called a Hurricane took care of that game and canceled it. UCF conference schedule is far greater than Marshall conference USA.

NC State is not in top 25 of any preseason poll.

So the National Champion Knights only played one P-5 as noted? Final poll that counts at playoff time, n'est pas! For the sake of Argument I am forced to agree that UCF played some tough teams in AAC play, USF, Memphis and Navy ,no day at the beach!
