Maybe I'm not understanding what the ultimate outcome will be but without a recent teacher's union strike, WV teachers wouldn't be getting much if any raise, same for the rest of state employees.

Teachers have the greatest power of all. They can vote their bosses out. Still can.

I don't understand your comment. They can't vote out the legislature or governor who control the purse strings or How does changing union leadership get the teachers a raise? As long as WV public employee/teacher unions remain then I have no problem.

All Kennedy has to do is make it to the end of Trump's first term which may come in 2020 or 2019.

Sure they can. They are a huge voting block in this state and carry massive influence. They are still allowed unionize (eye roll) but just can’t force everyone to join.

That’s another reason Kennedy won’t leave. You think any of these Justices’s egos will let them retire with such a possible impeachment/indictment questions circling around? No f’n way.

From an "academic" perspective, one can see the tremendous impact on American society made by Mitch McConnell by not allowing Obama to fill the vacancy on the Supreme Court. Trump's nominee (Gorsuch) has been the swing vote on both the travel ban case and this public union case, both cases being decided on a 5-4 vote. And Clinton's inadequacy as a campaigner put Trump in the position to take advantage of McConnell's actions. Major impact on the country for years to come. These two votes may foretell the direction of our country, as the SCOTUS will decide the legal winner of many bitterly partisan issues coming up.

Trump owes a huge debt to McConnell, without whom those two decisions probably would have gone the other way.

The ruling doesn't ban them or prevent them from organizing they simply cannot force membership or dues.
