I like my weber gas grill but I also use a weber charcoal. I've had experience on ceramic grills including the big green egg. Problem I have is the price but I'm also about to make a purchase of one and discard the weber charcoal. I'll keep the gas grill as it is so convenient in the type of grilling I do. But I'm glad to hear your comment, bama.

If you are looking for a ceramic....and price is an issue.....you might want to check out Costco and Sams.....both have high quality ones at about half the price of the Green Egg and both come with several accessories that cost a fortune with the Egg. I would buy one from Costco or Sams if I did not already have several charcoal grills. I hardly use those since I went with a TEC Sterling infrared gas grill years ago.....best grill I have ever owned.....but they are very pricey.

Price is not an issue other than sticker shock. When I buy one, it will be top of the line BGE.

I bought a Char Grill Acorn Kamado a few years ago and it has been awesome. Wish they were more mobile for camping and football season.

Bought it for $229. Does this make me a poor?

No.....it shows how wise you are. You could have laid down a grand for a BGE. I bet your Kamado does just as good.

It looks like an aliens from Chicken Little. Other than that, seems like a good choice.

Yes, ceramic grills are basically the same other than accessories. You made a great choice. I've cooked on this exact model and it performed great for me.

I think all of the ceramic grills are pretty much the same. Key is using the right charcoal, and it ain't Kingsford.

Yes, GOOD lump charcoal is best with ceramic grills and I started using it with my weber charcoal grill and found it not to be as good as Kingsford briquettes. I don't understand the difference behavior. Only thing is different materials of the two containers. So I did a test of burning same quantity of both on a flat concrete surface and the briquettes did cook hotter for a longer period of time.

Greatest grilling adventure ever! Why did I ever use propane!?!
Well....you could've bought an AMERICAN MADE PRODUCT...Made in Texas...called The Primo Grill... We've had ours for several years, only had to replace the seal...@ NO COST! We paid 30 $ more but we helped AMERICAN families with the purchase..just a thought...you know "for next time"

I almost bought an oval Primo a few years ago. I thought they were the best bang for the bucks and that was before Costco and Sams carried any ceramics.

BTW, I see they do make an Akorn Jr. for camping, tailgating, etc. 41 lbs. I think I'm gonna have to try this out this year. Only $127.

I prefer just a plain ole Weber grill with charcoal, but primarily use the gas grill. Recently purchased a Masterbuilt smoker, and totally enjoy it. Waiting patiently for Thanksgiving to get here, just to see if I can ruin dinner for everybody. I imagine smoking a big bird perfectly (first time) is going to be a challenge.

I just did a pork butt on my electric Masterbuilt yesterday. I prefer the electric smokers over others because I have better luck controlling the temp.

That's what I have, the 40" electric. Used it three times so far, and all have turned out great. Wings, whole chicken, and a rack of ribs. Lots of recipes and sound advice online for these masterbuilt smokers. I have followed them to the T thus far.

Defrost that bird thoroughly, brine it and smoke it around 310-325 for a shorter smoke time (3.5-4 hours).

I thinking of doing a turkey.......what size for you instructions?
13-15lb. Obviously the time frame is an estimate so make sure you use a digital thermometer. If it's a bigger bird, I'd still stick to 4 hours smoke and then hit in the oven, if it were me.

Thanks....I do use a duel probe wireless digital therm so I can keep close attention to the smoker and product temps.
