For years we've all been told that we cannot move the US embassy to Jerusalem because the move will derail the peace talks. Okay, great, but, important to remember that those peace talks have been going on for at least thirty years and at some point it becomes obvious that there never will be any sort of formal peace deal. Instead, the Muslims want to use the whole Jerusalem thingie as a way of poking Israel in the eye and holding up any sort of formal peace settlement (after all - peace is not in Iran's best interest). And at some point..it just becomes....f*ck everyone else, the US is going to do what the US is going to do ....because there isn't a formal peace to be had.

Jordan and Saudi reconciled themselves to fact Jews are there to stay. You can leave if you want but Jews will remain. Some countries realized cost was to great to continue.
Palestinians have no place to go. Other Muslims do not want them as neighbors, so they give them financial support to continue battle with Jews. That would be a good project to "follow the money".
