Emmitt Mathews commits to WVU

Announced this evening he’s coming to WVU. Good recruit out of Tacoma, WA. He is friends with McCabe and McCabe helped get him on board.

WVU is now 1 scholarship over if Sags stays. Logan Routt could go back to walkon status or someone else will go.

If Sags comes back I think we finally win national title. Roster will be stacked.

We haven’t been stacked in past because of unexpected attrition to roster like Devin Williams leaving early like a fool. If he came back for senior year the previous year that team would have been stacked.

Last year Macon getting suspended and leaving really hurt us plus Knapper fluke knee injury. Those 2 were going to be very good. It’s always been something stopping us from being stacked.

Pinning the NC on Sags coming back is a tall task. This may be the deepest team ever, but calling for a NC is pretty far out there.

I feel more confident than ever if Sags comes back. We will be absolutely loaded. Culver gives Sags more help down low and many experienced players are back. Knapper is 100% and isn’t a typical newcomer freshmen. He’s prepped a year, redshirted, practiced half the season and is older. He is day 1 impact. Can shoot from deep.

McCabe is not a typical true freshmen. Wise beyond his years and can also shoot the lights out. Beetle also can shoot the lights out. We’re way better down low if Sags comes back cause we got added depth, talent down low. I think Haley can help some cause he’s older JUCO transfer going into 4 year out of high school. I think he gives us quality. Mathews is talented but really won’t have to play much. If he’s good then he’s an added bonus.

Not down on the program lol. Just look at things without jumping up and down in the stands...so to speak. On a side note;;;the bloated NCAA tournament now allows most with a faint heartbeat to play in a second season. Not as big of an accomplishment as it used to be.

Perhaps making the field is not but certainly making the sweet 16 is. It is nice to have that as a base to try and build off of it. Would should be in the running for another sweet 16 but will definitely miss our senior guards.

Good post. I think maybe root was referring to the ones that expect top 10 finishes every year. WVU has definately established a top 25 expectation IMO.

This is probably what Root was confronting and posting about not to speak for him @still5-0vstarheels. The expectation posted above probably is sky high for this roster.

I think McCabe, Knapper, Beetle are going to be good and a talented older JUCO guard like Haley will help. If Sags comes back are 3-4-5 spots will be incredibly loaded with size, talent, experience.

I think at this point I might like the BIG12 championship more than another Sweet 16. It would be a hell of an accomplishment to be the team that finally took it away from Kansas and that banner would look mighty fine hanging from the rafters.
