Most restrictive gun laws on the books. Brilliant.
We all know what these protests are all about. Dwyane Wade donated $200,000 to send kids to the march. Carmelo Anthony helped pay to send more than 4,500 kids from Baltimore to the march in Washington, D.C.

Switzerland has the highest rate of gun ownership in the world, and has not had a mass shooting in over a decade. Here are some excerpts from their gun laws:

  • People who've been convicted of a crime or have an alcohol or drug addiction aren't allowed to buy guns in Switzerland.
  • The law also states that anyone who "expresses a violent or dangerous attitude" won't be permitted to own a gun.
  • Gun owners who want to carry their weapon for "defensive purposes" also have to prove they can properly load, unload, and shoot their weapon and must pass a test to get a license.

Switzerland is about the size of Rhode island?

Chicago isn't even in the top ten in national murder rates.

But I'm really not sure why you are attacking a teenager who wants to make schools safer based on a gang violence epidemic in one of the worlds most populated cities.

Is the NRA active in Switzerland? Looks like they have responsible "gun nuts".

Gun control and restrictions that the NRA won't allow here are there.......
LMAO....the NRA now enacts the laws in this country. Did you see any protestors in mass after Sandy Hook holding up signs of President Obama that stated he had blood on his hands. Obama and the Dems had total control and did absolutely NOTHING about mass shootings. Todays protests are all about politics nothing else. Do you believe Hogg should visit Chicago and display his outrage about the carnage that has been going on unabated for years and years.

Maybe you should learn to examine easily researched statistics before calling other people fools. Chicago has a lot of murders, however, it is also one of the most populated cities in the country. As such we expect it to have a lot of murders. When you consider population size, the murder rate falls to outside of even the top 20 in normal years. In 2017, despite a drastic uptic in murder there, the murder rate there is still less than half of what you see in places like St. Louis and Baltimore. It compared much more to places like Tulsa and Louisville.

So, yes, when you consider data over the past say, 10 years, Chicago doesn't make the top 10.

No...its all about Trump. I have NO need to rebutt you point on some gun restrictions. You need to pay better attention to my posts.....I have said numerous times that I see no need for the public to have access to assault type weapons and the such. I simply want to know why you and the media IGNORE the killing problems in places like Chicago......THOUSANDS more die there yearly than die in school shootings.......and not a peep out of you and CNN

1. I don't live in Chicago, but I have kids in school.......call it selfish, but that's the truth.....

2. So you are for mandatory psych evaluations and other controls that Switzerland has?

3. I'm against all murdering of innocent people.......and a murder by gun happens at a rate of 3 people per hour, and violent crime every 25 seconds........Would you like me to be like WVU82 and post on the board after every one of these incidents?

Here you go...."straw-man". This will make you feel better.

The Education Department reports that roughly 50 million children attend public schools for roughly 180 days per year. Since Columbine, approximately 200 public school students have been shot to death while school was in session, including the recent slaughter at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. (and a shooting in Birmingham, Ala., on Wednesday that police called accidental that left one student dead). That means the statistical likelihood of any given public school student being killed by a gun, in school, on any given day since 1999 was roughly 1 in 614,000,000. And since the 1990s, shootings at schools have been getting less common.

The chance of a child being shot and killed in a public school is extraordinarily low. Not zero — no risk is. But it’s far lower than many people assume, especially in the glare of heart-wrenching news coverage after an event like Parkland. And it’s far lower than almost any other mortality risk a kid faces, including traveling to and from school, catching a potentially deadly disease while in school or suffering a life-threatening injury playing interscholastic sports.

1. Nope.....but if you don't see the difference in my concern then you are close-minded......(Chicago = big city in which I don't live......Parkland & Sandy Hook = schools filled with children, which I have)

2. NRA won't allow him to pursue it.......wait and see.......hope I'm wrong

3. This board doesn't need WVU82 type of threads on anything.....I tried that once, and people got pissed.......

Actually, there should be some controls and regulations. We have the technology to do so. Cars are "smarter" than ever before. Can provide a code that parents can type in to their children's phones that when the car is in drive/reverse, the phone will not allow texts. My car is ran by a freaking FOB, and if it screws up my car won't run to prevent "theft".......yet we cannot have this technology for teens and cell phones?

There you go again. Did I say that going to school presented a large risk? You seem to be arguing, poorly, that there is an acceptable level of children being murdered in school.

To your point, there is an exceptionally low risk of being killed in an act of foreign terrorism. Do you also think we should not take action there?

If you disagree with the students then you should try a ressing the merits of their position rather than attacking them based on age or trying to shift the subject.

You're the one that brought up the risk subject....not me. I only introduced some risk numbers that did not fit your agenda. There is NO acceptable level of children or anyone being murdered anywhere. I also NEVER attacked any "students" and where did you pull the nonsense that I attacked anyone based on age.......let me guess.

Remember, these are the same people who are taking doctored photos of the teen from Parkland and showing her ripping up the Constitution (which she isn't doing) and spreading their propaganda to everyone......and then they hide behind "fake news" every time something comes out about Trump.......
