QB questions. Help me out here...

Will [Sr]
Jack Allison [Jr]
Trey Lowe [ Incoming true freshman]

1 Allison is eligible and tested and becomes the backup? How much would we miss if Grier goes down again?

2 Is Trey Lowe on campus and in spring drills and just how good is he

1...Pray, and I mean pray a lot, that Will doesn't go down.

2...Lowe is here and practicing but he's also working with the baseball team. He has a lot of potential but it's going to take the spring and summer before he is even close to being able to help.

Vern but don’t you feel more comfortable with Allison coming in instead of Chuggs if Will Grier got injured? Allison is not mobile but I guarantee he would throw much better than Chuggs who really couldn’t throw or pass. Allison being here already helps him too.

We are in better shape I believe with Allison backing up. Will Grier is star QB and we don’t want him getting dinged obviously but I feel more confident with Allison coming in compared to last year where all we had was Chuggs backing up. Allison should be big upgrade over Chuggs.

Hopefully Trey Lowe is the star QB recruit we have been waiting for. I just hope baseball doesn’t hurt his QB development. Dana said the other day he will still play spring football and that football pays the bills over baseball he said jokingly but serious. Lol. He has to remind Mazey of that he said lol.

You would expect the answer to that question to be an obvious yes but it's not. Chugs was firmly in the second spot and that's a little scary. Allison has improved a lot and likely would have taken the backup role but fact that it didn't happen earlier is very concerning to me.

Allison was still behind Chuggs? Allison wasn’t eligible to play and I figured that was only reason he wasn’t 2nd. I’m waiting to see Allison and Lowe this spring, but I’m guessing the coaches hope Lowe is the top QB in the long run. We need both to be good but I’m a little concerned that Allison may be suspect or perhaps overhyped. I hope not.

Better to not hype Allison or anybody else up who hasn't proven anything. I just have a feeling that Allison is going to be another Childress or Crest. It's more likely to turn out that way than not.

I know the college game favors a mobile QB, especially a program such as ours where we can't recruit the massive o-line that Bama, Georgia, etc... can ($$$). So this statement is more of a wish really.

It would be cool to see a pocket passer pick apart these defenses that load the box. Dink and dunk until the long ball is given to us. Throw in a 210 lb RB that can always fall forward for 3 yards on a bad run.

That's not our identity though.

I don't know anyone who is "hyping" Allison. Here is what we know about him:

1) He was heavily recruited as a pro style quarterback out of high school.
2) He is a tall guy, about 6-6.
3) Last spring, he was in a three way competition for the Miami starting job. He finished 3rd in the three-man field. The story is that the new Miami coach wanted more mobility out of his quarterback, which triggered his transfer.

That is all we know. He is a young fellow who is developing, and has no game experience that we can go on. We must go on the evaluations of our coaches until we see him at the spring game.

Miami starting QB wasnt very good. I’m a little concerned that he may not be very good but I’m hopeful that with his height he can be developed here. I’m not jumping the gun but looking at practice drills Grier and Lowe throw tight spirals and a good ball and Allison is throwing weak armed wobbly ducks. There are rumors of Allison not living up to hype of 4 star recruit. I think this spring will tell something. I’m looking forward to seeing him.

Md lost 3 qbs this year and still had a fourth option. That is a bad program that has more depth than WVU. It is sad to see our recruiting at this position but even worse is our DB situation. Our recruiting is a mess right now.

Mexiskins Dana has not recruited HS QBs well. There is hope that Trey Lowe will end that bad recruiting and be Dana first HS QB recruit to shine in all 8 years he’s been here. Lol

Of our QB's, Allison has the strongest arm.............he has accuracy issues.
