No I mean loyalty to the party establishment Trumped (pardon the pun) any real substantive support he (Bernie) otherwise deserved from Democrats. If they were honest with their base (and themselves) they would not have sabotaged his efforts to run as the party's nominee instead of that Hag they pre-selected.
Similar to Trump, who rustled the feathers of many entrenched Republican establishment types who didn't want him anywhere near their power or cushy positions of power. They tried to thwart his run to the nomination, and refused to support him enthusiastically during the campaign. Of course it was to their benefit to see him "investigated". They never wanted him in the first place.
