In the near-term, CenturyLink has plenty of work cut out for itself to overcome a series of quarterly broadband subscriber declines.

While the telco has not revealed its fourth-quarter earnings date yet, CenturyLink lost another 101,000 customers during the third quarter. The service provider ended the quarter with a total of 5.76 million customers.

Adtran issued a challenging fourth-quarter outlook due to a pending acquisition and tighter spending at one of its large Tier-1 telco customers.

“Instead of focusing capital on getting broadband speeds up to 10-20 Mbps, you would focus your money more surgically on areas that have higher population densities and better socioeconomic demographics that are in coexistence with businesses and where wireless infrastructure might be needed to get a better return on capital,” Patel said. “You would focus your capital on providing much higher broadband speeds than just offering 10-20 Mbps.”

why would anyone pay for 10-20 Mbps ? it's not 2005...

I think you didn't read the article.......the employees did not receive any bonuses, but four executives did.....

One CenturyLink employee who did the math told Yahoo Finance: “If the $7.3 million paid out in bonuses to four guys in November had been spread across the company, it would’ve nearly equaled the $200 holiday bonus typically paid.”

If you hate the tax cut so much, then donate your share back the feds and help pay down the debt.

You still don't get it. We have been saying these tax breaks for these large corporations don't "trickle down" to employees; they make top executives richer.

Case in point. Others to follow.

And yet, we’ve already seen it happen in numerous instances now through bonuses and salary increases. Many businesses are planning capital projects and increased IRaD projects. Are some businesses going to increase bonuses for execs? Yes. Is the economy roaring? Yes.

Looking forward to the spin of the 4% growth after doofus told us it wasn’t possible.
