Chainsaw: Poulan or Husqvarna?

I just bought some wooded acres and will be beginning to clear it to start building a house. Which chainsaw do any of you recommend?

For honest work like you're describing......and not just light duty cutting in the backyard......find your local Stihl dealer and pay their premium (both for their products AND their service). I wouldn't personally recommend messing around with typical home center brands (Poulan, especially) like those you mention for a job that might end up getting pretty big.

I have several, including Stihl, but I usually reach for a Shindiawa. Both are really good.

I hate any of the new ones. Too many safety gadgets to keep them from working.

Stihl.....and I only use non-ethanol gas in all of my equipment. I also highly recommend a fuel additive product called Sea Foam that was recommended to me a couple years ago.

I know ethanol is considered a (or the) culprit for a lot of small engine problems these days.....it's just that, for the typical suburbanite (like yours truly), non-ethanol gasolines are essentially unavailable. From what I recall, they're most commonly found in marinas; and I don't have a boat.....nor intend to buy one.....anytime before I die.

Meanwhile..../..and hi-jacking the thread for just a moment......how do such fuels compare to common unleaded regular gasolines with regard to price ??.

Around 30 cents per gallon higher. Several gas station near me here in the WV/VA area have it. Since I'm very close to VA I try to get all my gas in VA since it's usually 35 to 45 cents cheaper than here in Charles Town.

Bingo. I got one 4-5 yrs ago and it’s a beast. Husqies used to be good but not anymore. Poulans are crap

Buy pre mix non ethanol fuel unless planing on using a whole lot ...echo is a very good saw

Always got the impression that Shindaiwa was a legitimate pro brand; in fact, I kicked around buying one of their string trimmers some years ago (but felt Stihl offered me all the quality I needed for something approaching 1/3 less money).

On a board filled daily with irrelevant, stoopid (thanks for that spelling a couple years back, THE) responses, that may be the single dumbest "answer" to a straight-forward question I've seen in all my years here......and that's saying something.
