You sarcasm is missed placed. The team we tied for second place, OSU, beat us by 17 points and the Champs, OU, beat us by by 28 and it was much worse than that. so yes we were "NOT EVEN CLOSE" to winning it.

Exactly cause they were pro teams and WVU was like midget league team (in my youth that was pc acceptable). It is not like a play here or there changes those games. WVU was just totally dominated in every way and did not deserve to breathe the same air. It's not like WVU was playing big time college football either..

While you may have labeled your initial post as sarcastic, you weren't being sarcastic at all. TCU came into the Big-12 the same year WVU did. TCU has far less legacy than WVU does in football and came from a much more modest conference than WVU. Yet, TCU has done everything WVU has found impossible to do. TCU set the bar and did more with less.

Not true at all.
TCU has a great history in football.

You forgot about LT-Ladanian Tomlinson in terms of Overall Legacy for TCU. TCU also has two NCs and more $$$$$ than WVU will ever have. None of that matters that much in this discussion.

Still If you really want to do a real comparison, Gary Patterson has won 5 more conference games than Dana Holgorsen has won in 6 seasons in the Big XII..

TCU has a conference record of 32-22 while WVU has went 27-27.

Note there is no sarcasm here. Just A comparison of two schools where there isn't a Grand Canyon of division.

It is the national perspective at the time. When TCU beat LSU in the Sugar Bowl in 1935 it was a huge deal for Texas football and the Southwest Conference.
1938 Championship was awarded by the AP at the current time because after 35 the SWC gained respect.
1939 Texas A&M won the national championship.

Having lived in Texas for many years in my younger days I can readily understand your opinion, such thinking is universal in the Lone Star State, but that as much as Texans believe everyone shares that stance, the other 49 states do not. In the Big-12 there is Texas and Oklahoma. The rest of us are varing degrees of wannabe-bluebloods. Some of us are much further down the road to it than the rest. WVU, I would place further down that road than any other school outside of the big two. OSU, KSU have some good laurels, the rest, in spite of their pedigree you mention are nobodies and will be nobodies for a long time - in football at least.

I agree. WVU has neither of those things going for it. While having a great coach is critical to success, being in a recruiting hotbed is a luxury. WVU has never been in a recruiting hotbed but has had great coaches.

West Virgina needs to prove this instead of just say they are an important university in this conference.

Basketball team has top 3 regular season finishes the last 2 years and made it to the conference tourney title games both years. Didn't win, but proved to be competitive and no team outside of Kansas and ISU can boast better.

Sarcasm and factually incorrect all in the same post. We finished third last year. The Big XII adopted tie breaker rules due to the co championship several years ago. By rule we finished 3rd. We were eliminated from the championship with the OU lose. That occurred with 3 weeks left in the season, Sat Nov 19 Oklahoma (8) * 28-56 L 57,645. So no last year was not a year we competed for the Big XII championship. I've heard next year is the year. I think we have a shot if Grier comes back. Predicted 9-10 wins this year.
