Those folks were diagnosed well after the name change. Here's more accurate information on the CDC's tracking and nomenclature of the disease. Time as a news source is biased and leaves out important information because they do not report, they try to slant facts to fit their narrative.

This information is strictly from epidemiological analysis of who the first cases of immune deficiency were confined to and how they tracked those cases at the CDC as a public health risk.
