Executives from Papa John's, the official pizza company of the NFL, expressed disappointment on a conference call Wednesday about the league's ongoing player protests during the national anthem.

"The NFL has hurt us," company founder and CEO John Schnatter said. "We are disappointed the NFL and its leadership did not resolve this."

Executives said the company has pulled much of its NFL television advertising and that the NFL has responded by giving the company additional future spots.

"Leadership starts at the top and this is an example of poor leadership," Schnatter said, noting he thought the issue had been "nipped in the bud" a year and a half ago.

In revising sales estimates for the next quarter, Papa John's president and chief operating officer Steve Ritchie said on the call that the NFL deal was the primary suspect behind the decline and that "we expect it to persist unless a solution is put in place."

Ritchie said that research has found that Papa John's has been the most recognized sponsor associated with the NFL for two years running, which he said means the company's performance can track with that of the league.

I think the NFL isn’t as popular as some want it to be. I just think it peaked. The money is a reason many stopped watching too. I think it has less to do with the kneeling as many believe.

I guess that Papa Johns disagrees. What research do you base your comments on? I bet that Papa Johns has done a little more research on this than you or I.

Their pizza does suck. Not saying that is a reason for their sales decline, but that trash is garbage.

I love the garlic butter sauce, and the cheese dipping sauce. The pizza sucks. I use a good local joint where I’m at.

No boom. I'm afraid Pizza eaters and NFLers are fed up with the protests and politicization of football. They're just turning a lot of it all off including commercial sponsors. Not all of it, but a lot of it.

I really don't think the NFL situation has anything to do with their sales decline. That douche didn't do himself any favors when he whined about potentially having to provide health insurance coverage, whined about a possible raise on minimum wage, etc. People have seen his mansion and feel no sympathy for him and his whining.

Just curious, is Budweiser sales declining because of the NFL?

Slumping Budweiser Sales Are a Big Problem, ..........
"We can't remember a quarter as bad in the U.S., Trevor Stirling, an analyst wrote in a note to investors" .......... Who knows concerning the cause, but I would guess the NFL situation is not helping.

I agree, why would declining attendance, declining viewership, and now sponsors reporting declining returns indicate exactly what they are saying is aiding in the decline. Must be something else, like interest. Hahaha

So the answer is no, it has nothing to do with the NFL. Thanks for playing.

Ratings were down last year and the year before too weren’t they?

Yes. I didn’t say that the protest was the sole reason, but I wish you all would stop kidding yourselves into believing it isn’t also a causal factor. Lemme apply the logic of the baker. In the world of business you are dominated by the green, not white or black. Why intentionally piss off a large swath of your customers?

I think it’s a factor. I just think there are people that are aching to have this be the sole reason.

I think a lot more people are aching to believe it is not only not a reason but that the NFL doesnt need the people who are not watching. Youve seen that on here by one in particular. He convinced himself the ratings were up even thou all the evidence suggested otherwise.

By the way young fellow, Is this the same "country youngster" that stated on another post that someone else failed to show up over the weekend to meet him? How old are you, dare I ask? I vote for a minimum age to post.

I've been silent on this thread but I have a strong opinion about the piece of **** ahole that runs Papa Johns. But I am a customer in spite of him. But this is also interesting and you can bet more analysis that will make the ahole look like who he is, quoting Coach Green.

Did you read the article? It didn’t disprove what he said, at all. It was basically just bashing him and saying Pizza Hut who had the exact same numbers didn’t attribute their reduced sales to the NFL protests.

/Thread Fail.
