Their offensive right tackle, 77, held on every single play the last two drives.

Yeah, they were bad holds too. Officiating was sloppy at times, but we lacked focus and discipline on the defense Saturday night. Extremely disappointed in some of the penalties, and Dana needs to get it together.

I will say... Will Grier is a beast.... damn beast.

999 out of every 1000 fans will claim their team got jacked by the refs. It is an amazing phenomenon.

Play was sloppy and I was impressed with the young QB Baylor brought in. He needs to play. That onside kick killed us. We have to be ready for it and we weren't. I'm glad we won but letting that lead go in the 4th is problematic and hopefully the players and coaches are learning from film.

Agree on their qb. He should be their new starter.

Barking out offensive signals. Can't do it. Need to be smarter.
It's rarely called because it happens so often during the course of a football game. The team did indeed lose discipline after going up 38-13.

It was so blantantly obvious......to me, at least......that the WVU defense was playing dead on their feet that the Baylor scrub QB had the ideal situation in which to come in. Different circumstances to be sure, but it reminded me when we blew the doors off Ole Miss in bowl game in the first half, and Eli Manning came in as freshman and lit us up in the 2nd half (but couldn't bring his team all the way back).

JMO, but the kid doesn't play anywhere near as effectively in the 1H had he started the game against a fresh WVU defense. Of course, football remains a 4 quarter game.....

Gibson said the defense was calling out our stemming calls....no one was barking out offensive plays. He also said we have been doing it for 4 years and also had done it earlier in this game and the refs did not call any penalties. I'm not a blame the refs guy.....but.....this crew was beyond ridiculous. I looked and replays today and the Baylor no call holding was probably the worst I've have ever seen.

Probably true. I don't doubt that the refs blew the call.
WVU coordinator Tony Gibson said his defenders were merely calling out their pre-snap “stem” shifts.
“We stem our front,” he said. “We’ve done it for four years since I’ve been the coordinator and it’s never ever been called. We did it earlier in the game and they didn’t call it.”

No doubt. Also no doubt that it is very common for defensive players yell out an offensive play they think may happen based on the formation and/or the qb signaling. So Gibson is probably right and there is most likely more to the story. It happens on almost every play and the defense has to be smart on how they call out what they think the offense is doing. They are taught on how to call it out. Refs are taught to know the difference what is permissible and what is a penalty.

Regardless, it happens on almost every play and has for years. It is very bush league that the refs called it at that point in the game.
