In what way? What did the Dems give up? Stabbing everyone in the back is just another Trump negotiating method. I don't doubt that he agreed to some (if not all) of what's been said but once it was made public and the heat came on he's backpeddling like the weasel that he is. He demands loyalty but has loyalty to no one. His word is not bond.
You think? If as the Dems state, this would be once again Republicans bowing to everything the Dems want, with nothing in return. This is why we have Trump in the first place.
I think the GOP and even some loyalists will begin to see that this man says and does anything to "win", and that "winning" only involves his personal legacy and the ability for him to see himself as the most popular / powerful boy in school.
If you don't see that with any and every politician in DC already, you're fooling yourself.
Oh, cause I thought you had Trump to "drain the swamp" and enact populist (non-conservative) protectionist / nationalist policies that would put money in your pocket by whatever means necessary? (Was that bs description a little over the top?)
There are party lines that must be held, and party loyalty that permeates the political decision making process. Trump has never felt like these issues applied to himself. Political football is a team game, all the "talent" in the world doesn't lay a block in front of you.
Up until policies you had me. Only thing I want for me is to limit H1B's, and not come in and undermine the domestic supply/demand of IT workers. That was being looked at prior to Trump. I've witnessed employees having to train their replacements, because the replacements are paid below market rate.
Trump isn't my guy, not sure how many times I have to say it.
Well for a liberal thinker that is open to conservative fiscal policy, and supports social welfare programs reform, like myself, Trump was the worst thing the GOP could've done. A Rubio, or even a Kasich could have had me supporting more conservative policies than I do currently. A Trump? Pffft. ---now if I believed he was a legitimate savior of American politics, not in it for power or ego, trying to bring the nation together, wanting what's best for all - not just "the chosen elite" --- I might think differently.

I think there's a way without full blown single payer. Or maybe we have a difference on what is single payer.

I'm not shocked that once again it's the GOP who caved. I've acknowledged for years that the Dems play a better fundamental game. The GOP has turned into blowhards. The people keep giving them more tools to carry out what they say they will and they don't. I'm all in on the "if you're in, you're out mantra" with very few exceptions.
Well part of that is because the GOP really doesn't agree on much between the moderates and the freedom caucus. It was easy to seem united behind a Democratic President who they knew would always veto their plays to the base. Now that they have all three branches they can't agree on what to do. And their base will believe whatever Trump tells them, ie. it's the Obstructionist Democrats fault. But on DACA, I think Trump just wants to do what the majority of Americans know is right rather than have the GOP own the optics of kicking 800,000 people out who really have no where to go. Regardless of what Trump ran on, the GOP still knows they have to better with Hispanic Americans or they will go the way of the California GOP who have never recovered after they enacted their own immigration rules back awhile. Rubes not happy!
I don't want the DACA folks deported, it's ridiculous. However, that doesn't mean you have to forsake the fundamental component of your negotiation which is much stricter boarders (wall, or massively increased border security). I've never cared about the wall beyond arguing the mechanics of how to do it. What Trump said was easily implemented if passed, even making Mexico pay for it. It would have cost a lot of capital, but it could have easily been done by the numbers. I do want a stricter immigration enforcement policy and I want illegals who've committed crimes deported. If the GOP folds completely and punts on this, I'll not vote for a single incumbent in the midterms or the main in 20.
Thus the open door for Dems. And for what? Trump's ego? Lack of adult leadership within the party? You initiated a thread on here a while back where you bashed the left for their lack of ability to compromise.......yet......there's a lack of compromise within the party you covet as being good for America. To the tune of allowing what you say is so bad for America to grab the majority once again. Now how does that make a fvckle of sense?

Nah, this is fine by me. If he wants to sell out the party that got him elected and hand wins off to the Dems, that's fine by me. He's just trying to head fake the GOP to action, imo though. Either way, he's making more enemies than he's gaining. Midterms will be a heavy blow, 2020 the final. Hopefully we see moderate minds on both sides figure it out.
If the current discussed deal goes through, it would be the GOP compromising yet again. It requires GOP support if only partially. It would be everything the Dems want, how are they compromising?
