Think that first drive was more described as "vanilla".......no need to throw out all our blitz packages on this game.

That Mountaineer defense ain't one bit soft. ECU brought a football team to play WVU. Give ECU a little credit. They have some quality players. Give WVU some credit as well. That 'soft' defense has WV ahead 35-3 and it ain't even halftime yet. Tell me what the problem really is. Warez

Right. Talk about bad defenses. East Carolina's is beyond pathetic.

The FS2 crew made a good point about ECU's defense. Have you ever seen a defense that plays its LBs as far off the LOS as ECU? Hard to stop the run that way.

Secondary is having issues.......nobody can deny that.
Whole I agree we have need for much better corner play, one has also to admit that in both games WRs have made some spectacular catches in very good, close cover. There were several catches today where the corner was on the receiver as tight as one could ask. Just some poor luck, slight mis timing, ???

Poster makes a good point and gets jumped on with both feet. Maybe, he deserves this from past posts, but this post was on the money.

If we had a better D, we would have one heck of a FB team.
We have issues at corner and on the DL. I would like to think it will get better, but if anything, it was no better than last week. I expected to see improvement, but was disappointed. Maybe, we just don't have the talent to fix it?

We will have a good season, because we have one heck of an offensive. Will Grier is among the best of the best. Unfortunately, the D will lose a few more for us.

It's hard to judge the defense today, when you are up by 49 points at halftime, it's hard not to get complacent and give up a few scoring drives.

Yeah because there's no way a defense that lost 8 starters from a year ago and who many are playing together for the first time and getting a little tired because we scored so often and fast cannot possibly get better.

Oh and let's completely overlook the defensive performance in the first 2 1/2 quarters when the starters were in and just look at the total yardage given up (half of which the second string allowed) and call it a defensive performance as a whole.

But hey "This post was on the money" and "maybe, we just don't have the talent to fix it"

Give him a break. He's been a member here for 16 years and has graced us with 9 glorious posts.

Probably an alternative username for spreadoption.

I consider our defense to be a major concern.

It has HUGE issues. CLEARLY a problem if we expect to compete for a Big 12 title.

If that makes me a troll...so be it.

Woe is us. WVU gave up 3 points to East Carolina in the 49-3 first half. Terrible defense!
2nd and 3rd teams did even worse in the 2nd half.
This was the most lopsided game I've seen WVU win in a long time. The 2nd half was a pity party for East Carolina and a chance to give the WVU backups game experience.

I doubt that Delaware State and Kansas will do any better.

Will Grier got his awesome numbers by playing one half plus a few minutes of the 3rd quarter, then went to the sidelines for the rest of the game.
Chugs showed that it is imperative for WVU to keep Grier healthy.
If Simms had played against Virginia Tech, WVU would be undefeated.

At least 6 teams look good in the Big 12 this early.
