VT fans worried about their offense

Sample post:

We fall behind early in a bunch of games this year it could be a long year. We probably don't have the offensive firepower, especially early in the year, to come back from some of the larger deficits we saw last year.

Hopefully, Grier can score early and often and demoralize the Hokies before they get their courage up.

Any threads over there dedicated to WV fans being worried about our defense ?

Why wouldn't we be worried about our offense? When we're playing against the best QB to ever spin a football and most likely the Heisman winner for the next two years, our offense better be sharp. We've never played against a guy who should be starting for the Patriots instead of Tom Brady.

The other issue is having to play against a world class defense like you have at WVU. I mean, you come from a conference known for its defense.

I remember when we had to go into the Horseshoe and play some team who had a QB by the name of JT Barrett and he was going to carve up Bud's defense. I know it's not a fair comparison, given that we weren't up against Mr. Grier (I assume you call him Mr.).

My guess is Fuente and Foster will likely call your coach (pardon me, forgot his name) and simply concede victory.

A valid and rational post from a VT fan that is completely in touch with the reality of the situation.

Really...a good loser.

Seriously (not sure that word is applicable on this board!), I think this is going to be a good game and at least garner some national attention to what used to be a great rivalry between two schools that play pretty damn good football.

It's not like VT's defense isn't annually billed in the '86 Bears echelon.

The Ohio State win was good & a reversal of a litany of non-conference Ls. the 2 home games thereafter against East Carolina & Ga Tech extinguished the national championship talk though. I believe that season ended at 7-6 with 3 conference Ws. Then OSU returned the favor big time the following season.

Should be a good close game. Many unknowns & question marks on both sides. Hope it is good clean football absent of fluky stuff & any excuses.

If I'm not mistaken, it'll either be WVU's first loss at FedEx or VT's first win there.

Another touch of class
Was it class when your fans spit in my face? I will never forget the guy who tried to knock my wife down and she said "hey" to him and then he walked 40 feet and turned around to flip her off. Guess he needed a head start in case she came after him. #classlesshokies

I'm not condoning any fan that displays that kind of behavior. I don't think that is representative of our fan base anymore than I think actions from some of the Mountaineer fans is a fair representation of the WVU fans.

Let's face it, some people can't hold their liquor and some people are cowards and ALL schools have a few.

I don't think I have resorted to attacking any WVU fan or your total fan base. I referred to your post sarcastically as a retaliation to the name calling.

I've tried to be civil but obviously tried to talk a little smack. What the hell, it's a big rivalry so you have to expect that.

If you refer to some of my previous posts, you will notice that I said VT and WVU are very similar in many respects.

Have a good day and as I've also said, you're welcome to food and drink if you stop by my tailgate.

Although am a Mountaineer I have many friends that graduated from VPI. They are great guys. Most are a bit older than the average posters on our respective message boards, and some relatively young fellows. We have a friendly beer, a friendly bet, and avoid low class "trash" talk and we usually settle for simply rooting for our schools and respecting the opponent. I had to wear a VPI hat for the duration of a golf tournament once, and buy lunch to boot.

One of my best friends and golf buddies is a Mountaineer and his wife was a cheerleader. We joke about the competition but have always had a level of mutual respect for each other and each program.

If you want to talk about a bad fan base, I'll be glad to discuss my experience at LSU. But I don't degrade the WVU fan (at least not intentionally).

It's all good. Just glad the rivalry is being renewed somewhat. Much more exciting than having to play the Wahoos.

See how much easier things are when you choose not to be a douchebag. You were the one seemingly offended by our fans excitement over our QB. I realize VT has not had that for a while but you cant blame us for being excited.

I assure you I have never been offended by your excitement over Will Grier. You should be just as hyped over Grier as we were over Michael Vick and Tyrod Taylor. The really special ones don't come along often. I was simply injecting some sarcasm in the post in an effort to generate some conversation and to get a little jab in where I could. I don't think that qualifies as being a douchebag, but that's just my opinion.

I saw Grier's film and it's damn impressive. If he does that against us, we're in big trouble. That's where the disagreement comes in. Your fans think he can and will, our fans know he can but don't think he will.

The Hokies are putting a lot of faith in Bud Foster to come up with a game plan that will be successful.

Who goes to VT boards?
I go to the boards of WVU's opponents to get information about the Mountaineers' opponents. I don't post on rival boards or talk trash. My decades as a sportswriter taught me to do my research. So I went to the VT board to get information. And if I think it is of interest to WVU fans, I report it here. I'm not a trash-talker. I like information. After all, I spent 43 years on newspapers doing just that. It's a habit that I haven't, and don't want to, break. It keeps my mind from rusting or rotting. Now, let's roast some turkey on Sept. 3!

He's a VERY angry fella Brand...life has cheated him greatly...so much so that he has thousands and thousands of posts on a message board. Hopefully I am still on his ignore list...
I saw that lol

I thought, 'for someone who doesn't care about the opinion of others, he spends an incredible amount of time on a message board reading the opinions of others".
