Yeah, we're into the martyr phase, and your side generated one via automobile on Charlottesville a week or so ago.
That stuff only works if I'm on record of saying it's okay to punch a Nazi. I'm not. I'm on record as saying that other than direct calls for violence, people should be allowed to say whatever they want. I think the big mistake the Left made in Charlottesville was even dignifying these people with a response. I'm sure what they liked the most was the massive response they got. They want attention more than anything and the Left foolishly gave it to them.
Plus they broke the law by assembling without a permit. I wonder how many of them will be arrested for that offense?
Are you for free speech or not? A permit was issued for an event. Counter protestors become part of that event. Anyone who initiated violence should be prosecuted, but you don't know who initiated violence. You make assumptions.
You also conveniently forget that driving a car into a crowd of people isn't self defense. That's an act of terror. If the guy who did it was Muslim, you'd say that.
With respect to Cantwell, you don't know if he was defending himself or assaulting other with pepper spray. He'll have his day in court.

You can make up what you want with these little memes, but I have very little sympathy for the political ideology that orphaned my mother. I can understand how the master race felt threatened by a tailor and his wife, the parents of 2 kids. Pretty frightening people.
Also, learn your history before you call the Nazis socialists. The first people they put in camps in the 30's were their political opponents - primarily socialists and communists.

Learn your history. They weren't left or right. They were racists. They buddied up to the socialists/communists once they learned the German populist socialist movement wasn't going away.
I didn't say they were left or right. I was pointing out the fault in calling them socialists just because it is in the original party name. The DDR - Deutsche Demokratische Republik - was better known to us as East Germany. Not so democratic. The same is true of the official state name of North Korea. My point to Bill was that the name may have more to do with marketing than describing.
