I'm not saying they didn't have a permit. I'm saying that the idea they showed up with their permit and the cops responded by beating them is kinda silly.

They went to court apparently to get the permit.

The Antifa people showed up and all hell breaks loose.

Neither side can leave the other alone to have their protests peacefully.

It's true that neither side can leave each other alone. I suggest they put them all on an island somewhere and let them have at each other.

Bill said the cops were the problem though. I find that doubtful.

Well it sounded like the Police were moving the White Nationalist out of the park, but allowing the Antifa's to stay.

The police SHOULD have set up a barricade and not allowed the Antifa's to get near the White Nationalists.

But as usual, soft reactions by law enforcement when it comes to the groups leads to this ********.

Sorry for being a stickler for reality. He's trying to weasel out of "the cops assaulted them" bit. I know that antifa went nuts in Berkeley earlier this year and I condemned that at the time. But he's trying to say "If antifa attacked then they could have in Charlottesville too." But that wasn't the discussion. The discussion was him saying the white nationalist got their permit, went to the park and then the cops assaulted them. I questioned that. He didn't respond by retracting it but rather by trying to change the subject.
