CA may well be in desperate need of cash by then. They are one of the few places in the world that is ready made for the Olympiad. Ueberroth proved it can be a cash cow. I'd like to see it in Chicago. Beautiful in the summer unless rain sets up shop for an extended period. Oh well.

Sure they would. LA, Paris, Beijing and I'm sure they can find a fourth. The reason most of those places end up as boondoggles is because they end up building all that infrastructure for a few weeks. Makes more sense to re-use.

With the possible exception of Russia and China.....both with governments more concerned with how things look than practically assessing the long-term economic impact of the event.......it's fairly clear the Games have become a virtually impossible sell anymore in the pseudo-free world.

I agree with COOP about LA and Beijing, though I'm not as sure about Paris' repeating interest. OTOH, I suspect the Russians would be willing to entertain a Olympics rota which included Moscow.

I've also wondered about the basic feasibility of adding Dubai/Abu Dhabi to the mix, though I don't believe their combined population even hits the 5 milllon mark. I also don't know if the political relationship between the two cities could support the effort. But at least they wouldn't have trouble printing enough money to pay for it.

I could see that, having cities build Olympic villages with the intent of repeat games. LA, London, China, Paris, etc. A buddy of mine was involved in the Atlanta games and he said 'never will be held there again'.
