What would you tell your employees? "No matter how hard you work, no matter how smart you work, we're doomed to failure."I bet a lot of people would love to have you for a boss. I can imagine you telling them, "Just as long as you're on my staff all our problems are solved. No need to worry about any kind of results or performance evaluations."

Wouldn't it be nice to recruit a quality QB right out of HS?Will Grier and this guy taking over after him. Finally, our quarterback problem has been solved!

I'm pleased that this issue is being addressed, but it is being addressed off someone else's back and not by our own initial efforts.
Right, and Marc Bulger was pretty good too without being a transfer. I don't think DH can make a career off QB transfers. Eventually it will come back to bite him. Look at Crest and Chugs and the recent history. What HS QB wants to enter this environment?I have no problem with that. Jeff Hostetler turned out to be a pretty good QB. He even won a Super Bowl.

Excellent news! Holgs is starting to solidify the qb spot. A contract extension will help with that. It doesn't matter if he's a transfer or straight out of high school, getting 4 star qb's with this type of talent to wvu is a very difficult job. You take them when you can and don't worry about the transfer deal.

In the short term? Yes.
However I do agree that by now that he should have a succession in place and not rely on transfers this long into his tenure.
The good news is that this should buy him at least 3 more years to fix his biggest problem while coaching here.
Funny how all of a sudden now "Blue Chip Caliber QBs" being brought in by Dana are not impressive.I bet a lot of people would love to have you for a boss. The difference between a 4 Star out of high school and one who transfers? Well in recent wvu history a 4 star out of high school meant playing WR or some other postion. Remember David Stills and William Crest? Former 4 star High school QB's. In the case of Jack allison he is leaving miami because they want a mobile QB to add another dimension to there offense. In laymans terms he is slow. If he ever does start at wvu then we better hope the oline is good because he is not a runner. Please explain to me and the rest of us uneducated fans what the difference is between a 4 star QB who signs out of high school and a 4 star QB who transfers in and how that makes a difference.
I can't find that in my copy of Football for Dummies.
Thanks.
Clint Trickett was slow. He did fine here. Ford Childress was a 4 star high school qb, how'd he pan out? You take solid qb play from anyone, from anywhere at any time as long as they don't bring baggage with them. Dana's job is to win, and incrementally he is doing that. The difference between a 4 Star out of high school and one who transfers? People transfer for primarly 2 reasons. The first and most common is they can't get on the field were they currently are which is the case with Allison. Tricket did alright when he actually played but he was to feeble and never played an entire season. The 3 qb's responsible for the best season's in recent wvu history are Pat white, Jake Kelcher, and major harris and all were mobile Qb'sClint Trickett was slow. He did fine here.
