Why did Lazard leave the team?

I see this as a major blow. Our most experienced o-lineman bails? Any background to this at all? Smothers update as well? Anybody "in the know"?

Offensive linemen often leave in their last year. No one notices them unless they do something wrong and in my opinion many of them simply don't enjoy the game as much as other guys. He wants to focus on getting his degree.

Smothers has to concentrate on his academics for now. There's a a few others in the same position. It shouldn't be a problem for him to get back on the field IF he takes care of business in the classroom.

If he graduates, then this fall is on his dime, I believe. If no interest from the pros, take your degree and start earning money. I don't blame him.
