-500 billion degrees. I didn't think NC was supposed to get like this.

So I've built my fire, sipping my coffee, and agitating you fine folks this morning.

I am responsible for clearing snow from our church entrances and parking lots. We only got 3 inches but then it got really cold (6). I spent 2 hours clearing sidewalks by hand (snowthrower wouldn't start)......only to have them cancel services for today. Our congregation is very old and they didn't want to risk broken bones. I wish they had told me (and my back) before I went thru all that....btw......should we be talking "church" on this heathen atheist board?:pray:[banana]

There are Christians on this board. We are supposed to witness to the unclean.

That's your right under the First Amendment. No one should impede you for practicing your religion. No one should force anyone else to practice religion if they don't want to.

"...Congress shall pass no law respecting the establishment of religion nor prevent the free exercise thereof".

Just trying to inform a Christian how an atheist believes.

I have no issue with atheists. I get a little annoyed when some of them start suggesting religion is a crutch for the weak minded because i think people are going to believe what makes sense to them. The strength of their convictions will determine if they can deal with people who disagree.

Everyone would be better off if the idea of STFU was your go to thought.

I was born in 1950 at Logan during the great blizzard of that year. My parents lived up so high on Reservoir Hill that no-one could get to them. My father, grandfather, and Devil Anse Hatfield's great grandson Coleman strapped my mom to a sled tha my dad had owned as a child and pulled her to the bottom of the hill where she was picked up by a police paddy wagon and taken to Logan General Hospital.....it was a slow news day so the next day's headline was......"Snow Sled Baby of 1950 born in Logan".....I never thought much about it until 2000 when the Parkersburg News did a story of 50 years after the great blizzard and the story was front page again that day. My parents had never said much about it so reading the story was way cool.......btw I still have the sled.....it's priceless to me since my dad and Mr Hatfield have passed away and my mom has dementia.....freaky story

I'll all for people who have faith. I encourage it and am comforted by those who believe. I have my own daughters in Catholic school. It's just not for me for my own reasoning. My wife and the rest of our families believe strongly. I'm not offended or bothered by people of any faith.

I wouldn't say I'm really an atheist. I believe there is something, but I don't think it's meant for us to understand. That's just my personal belief. If you believing gives you the comfort or answers the questions you need answered, more power to you. I'll don't mind people witnessing, I really don't mind anything when it comes to any dogma.

The one thing I have realized over time is that people believe differently. Even people who follow my specific denomination believe in God in different ways. I believe Gods word as it is in the Bible but ither who believe the smae as I do see God differently thn me. Some subtly and some very different. I have stopped worrying about how others are judged or not judged because I have plenty to work on within.
