We have to get away from identify politics. It is destroying this country. Good people come in all colors. As MLK said, judge people by the content of their character, not the color of their skin.

By the way, I have a great Jim Brown story told by our very own Sam Huff. As we all know Brown and Huff were great competitors. During a game between the Giant (I believe although it could have been the Skins), Brown was having a tough game and every time Huff tackled Brown (which was a lot), he said "You stink Jim Brown." Then in the latter part of the 4th quarter, Brown broke away. Huff was one of those that chased him into the end zone. As Brown crossed the line he looked back at Huff and said, "How do I smell from here Sam?"

Brown owns a convenience store in Canton OH near where I used to work. One morning I stopped for something and he was there. We chatted for a while about his games against us.
Later that day after work a co-worker and I stopped by a minority owned gold course to get in a quick nine. He was there also. Later he made a thing about the NFL scheduling a tournament there during the Hall of Fame week. Not sure if he made it work but it sounded good to me.

Libs are terrified. Ray Lewis, Kanye West, and Jim Brown all went to see Trump. Each wanted to discuss black issues and to ask for help. They are all very influential in the black community. If blacks stop voting 95% for Dems, Dems are in big trouble. If Trump is able to open investment zones in inner cities to create jobs, if he is able to spend some infrastructure money in inner cities to improve quality of life and create jobs, if he funds some of the programs of mentorship and family retention in black communities that Jim Brown champions and he is even partially successful, it would do great damage to the Dems and their identity politics strategy.

It scares them to death.

I watched for the few minutes that I could take (The Don Lemmon Show) and they all tried to discredit Kanye, Jim Brown and Ray Lewis, some suggesting they weren't really black. How disgusting. They now hate them because they are not on the liberal thought plantation.

His show is very, very hard to watch.

They are also all pretty wealthy. So they have a completly different perspective. But don’t ignore the identity politics on the right too. White supremists, preservationists, evangelicals, old white men....

I am actually torn in this topic. I see the need for identity politics but there has to be bounds. At some point the good of the republic must be the end game.

It is impossible to watch as is Maddow and hannity or the Limbaugh radio show.

I used old white men as an example. I didn’t call them out. I’m am one of them feeling the pressures at work from younger employees, a push for systemic diversity, and a and stated goal that we need to develop bench strength meaning 30 years olds are getting the assignments I once got.

And yes, old white me can fit into that group of identity politics just like any other. If you feel that is untrue, you will understand when you get that AARP card if you don’t already have one.
