Any thoughts on the extension for Holgorsen? I think he has done an outstanding job at West Virginia and the extension was well warranted.

I was on the fence coming into the season but thought he should be let go if they had another bad season. But he made me a believer. He has improved each year with his coaching. Some head scratching from time to time but that happens with all coaches. Worst being Tomlin with his stupid 2 point conversions haha.

But I'm glad WVU extended him. He seems like a pretty likeable dude off the field and comes off as a West Virginian (that doesn't matter but it's a bonus).

Now if people can just stop caring about him wearing black. I hate hearing people still talk about that. Huggins wear black, nobody says anything about that. Color of someone's shirt is irrelevant yet people still talk about it.

The cross training of OL personnel and performance of
replacements for injured players made a big, big statement
to me regarding development of players. He has put
together a tremendous team of coaches who also can
recruit. Talent level growing each year as well as depth.
Flexibility is style of play to get most out of qb.

I think the reason for most of the hate was because a lot of people deep down thought that once he got the wheels put back onto the wagon, he was going to take off for another job. Now that he has shown that even after being considered for other jobs, and still stuck around and signed a five year deal, that most will finally start to see him as a true West Virginian and embrace him as Our coach.

The true brains of this operation is Tony Gibson. The current situation at wvu reflects the Dan Hawkins era at Boise state were Chris Petersen did all the work but hawkins got all the credit. History will end up proving the same here.

The reason he is still here is he didn't get any job offers. Big time programs want national championships and 10+ wins every season not just 1 in every 5 in a watered down weak power 5 conference.

Bottom line is Marshall sucks so you are a sad fan.

I like the new contract. I think its 50/50. Coach gets more money but less security. If coach Dana is successful in the next few years it makes it easier for him to negotiate but if he's not it makes it easier for us to fire him and for a coach that's been here for at least 7 years that's the way it should be.

Are contract details available? Haven't seen a link to any specifics.

Pretty much locked in for the first 3 years. It will be expensive to boot him. years 4 and 5 will be much easier to toss him. Personally I think Holgs is on the verge of being really good here.
