"5. Dana Holgorsen, West Virginia ($2.980 million): Ranked well below Charlie Strong (Texas), Mike Gundy (Oklahoma State) and Kliff Kingsbury (Texas Tech) in pay for 2016 is a Big 12 coach still in the running for the conference title. West Virginia's strong start to 2016 is a payoff for giving Holgorsen time to restructure the program following the move from the Big East. The Mountaineers don't have the same kind of offensive attack that hung 70 on Clemson in the Orange Bowl, but they've got more wins per dollar spent on a coach than anyone else in the league this season."

Yes.................let's all kick in and get Holgs up to at least $5 Million per year. After all, he has a family to feed.

I never feel sorry for anyone making $,$$$,$$$ to coach a kids game.

Are they worth it? If they're bringing in $$,$$$,$$$ additional to the school and community they reside in, then yes, otherwise nope.

SEC $4,118,419
Big Ten $3,527,630
Pac-12 $3,133,514*
ACC $3,081,666*
Big 12 $3,037,337*

*Big 12: No salary information for Baylor
*Pac-12: No salary information for USC

WVU is paying Coach D right at the Big XII average once you factor in his probable bonuses; he won't hit all the marks to get the max. So if you want a top 25 program, you may have to pay like a top 25 coach; at least above Kingsbury and closer to Patterson.

6-0 is fabulous. So was 5-0 till it turned into 7-6. WVU can never pay what Oklahoma and Texas do. We don't have oil billionaires chipping in for the coach's pay. I think, like Lyons, I'll wait till the end of the season, then come up with a reasonable number. $2.9 million isn't starvation wages.

I would hate to have to try and live on $2.9 million!
