Today's officiating against TCU or the worthless announcers on the telecast. Both were brutal. And I totally don't get on the officials but they were clueless so often, it wasn't even funny

Very good win today. I'm very pleased but we still haven't played a top tier team. I will look forward to the rest of our games but I'm still suspect that this team is a Top 10 team. I hope we are. We will see.

I'm pretty confident even if we go 12-0, there are better teams in the country to make the Top 4 and we will be left out of the playoffs. I hate it but not having a championship game sucks.

Couple more thoughts: I despise Jim Mora Jr. and am enjoying his defense getting shredded. And I don't even know I can call the UCLA players when they don't have the ball a defense. Wow!

Let's hope to heck that the Trolls that have polluted this board don't pollute this thread like they have (one particular Troll) has polluted all the others. When I see his name as last person posted, I don't even open up the thread. Am I the only one?

You are the only one who thinks his opinions are above question. Others are not on a level to voice another opinion since you are the only one that counts, IYO. Very sad for someone who could obviously have some level input. Damned shame you are that obnoxious and appear to take pride in it.

Glad I wasn't the only one who thought the officials were the awful. The worst I've seen all season. I can't imagine how the announcers were (I haven't re-watched the game yet), but the officiating was just frustrating as hell. Like a bunch of peewee refs got a chance to do a college game.

I actually thought we played poorly at times yesterday. Receivers not making catches they should have and our defense tackling very poorly. I went into the season hoping we'd get 7 wins. At this point I think we can still be Kansas, Iowa State, Texas and Oklahoma State, with Texas being the toughest of those 4 IMO. Watching Oklahoma's inept defense last night made me think that will be a damn close game for us, and I don't know what to think of Baylor just yet. A ranking of 10/11 I think is fair for us at this point, but wins the next 2 weeks will solidify that.

I don't think the stripes had a very good day either; but one thing that WAS even worse was our 1st half tackling. Absolutely miserable, though it was admittedly MUCH better in the 2nd half. The fact we so dominated the 2nd half possession clock probably helped.

Also, in spite of some of the legitimately great catches they made, I thought our receivers had trouble much of the day getting open. Was pretty clear to me Howard has been (or certainly was yesterday) coached to take ONE look downfield; and if nobody's open, tuck it and don't risk the INT. Since he doesn't have the world's greatest arm......and even though his accuracy appears to have improved this season over 2015......I think that's generally a good plan.

One last thing; was that THE most even (physically, at least) 24 point game you've ever seen ?? I admit TCU was a FAR more physical team than I myself realized (even though a lot went against them yesterday). I'm not sure we'll play a more physical team the rest of the season.

I do hope yesterday will be helpful in preparing us for this forthcoming tough phase of our schedule.

That about sums it up. For a game where we weren't on our best game, we still managed to win solidly.

The two new things that really stand out for me about this offense now (besides the great backup tbs we have in Crawford and McKoy and awesome OL) are (1) Howard is now a great qb in all areas from decision making to pass accuracy and (2) all four starting wrs Gibson, Shorts, White, and Durante have crazy pass-catching skills. As long as our young D continues to grow and improve, we may have a great end of the season. Next year we'll be preseason top 15.

There's been a noticed improvement with Howard. Much better decision making skills.

Plus he runs a pretty nice read-option. We have all the pieces on offense to go very far right now, the real question is whether our defense continues to improve with potent Oklahoma and Baylor still on our schedule. Both those teams have the potential to pry our defense open like a can of worms if we don't get better or we have more key injuries.

So, was that a concession you were wrong about him last year? Or are you in the position that he is the wrong guy to lead the team and we need a different qb?

No, it's a concession that I think he's grown. I've said all along. Holgerson tied his coaching future at WVU to Howard's ability as QB, and as goes Howard so goes Holgerson. Last year he was not the guy, and it showed. During the off-season he's grown tremendously. He still makes an occasional bad read, still over/under throws his WR's (like he did this past Saturday), but he's gotten much better than where he was last year.

I recall hoping.....or maybe praying......that the Cactus Bowl results might juice SH's confidence coming into the new season.

Obviously, he mostly winged it downfield in that game, which obviously doesn't explain why his accuracy has improved in 2016. Perhaps this season thus far is less about coaching than it is personal growth and sheer confidence. As you said, neer, he knew beyond a shadow of a doubt coming-in the Program was solely in his hands; maybe something therefore just ended up clicking upstairs.

But I also think your analysis, neer, of his issues is absolutely spot on. What makes it a little sad, however, is we're beginning to get at least a little spoiled with his improvement thus far. Unfortunately, with the schedule getting so much tougher the rest of the way, I don't know if he can keep up the production for which we've gotten a little more used to in the first 2 months of the season.

Maybe the thing I most hope is that he remains comparatively healthy the rest of the way; probably unlikely given the number of times (both planned and unplanned) he ends up carrying the pig as a runner.

Defense has got to play better. Coaching had them at the right place and they blew several tackles. Improve tackling and WV will win conference, and maybe win out, IMO. O-line is still giving Sky time. When they break down, Sky is lobbing it out of bounds instead of lobbing it down field. Receivers bailed him out on a few bad choices.

That's been a big fear of mine as well, because the drop off after him is substantial. He runs like a Full Back, but doesn't have the body of one, and I worry he'll get hurt one of these days.

All I can say is this team is fun as hell to watch. We all know how good we are at this point and we could go 12-0 or 8-4 depending on how those games are played. This season has been a blast and I'm just going to enjoy the hell out of it from here on.

Absolutely. Going into the season my hope was 7 wins. We are on good track for at least 8, so I'm more than happy.

The stadium atmosphere is great again. We took my sister-in-law and her family to the game saturday. Their daughter is a HS junior and is very interested in WVU, so we showed them around campus Saturday morning. None of them had ever been to a WVU game (or division 1 game for that matter) and they were in awe of the whole experience. We tailgated in the green lot and that was a total blast....jello shots and cornhole with neighbor tailgaters who I'd never met before. Then the game was loud and crazy and that was a blast. I remember looking at my niece and she was wide-eyed and engaged the whole time. When we were all singing Country Roads after the game, I looked at her and she was singing right along at the top of her lungs. I saw her FB page yesterday and she told the world that WVU is firmly #1 on her college list.

Yeah, good things happen when we win.

I went three times. First two times weren't bad, the last was closer to kickoff, about 2:30. The bad part was, the door closed and the handle flipped down on its own to the red indicator making you think someone was in there. After about 7 or 8 minutes, I walked up and twisted the thing down with my finger, then cracked the door (in case someone was actually in there) to realize no one was in there.

All these new bandwagon jumper oners can't handle their liquor or their piss. I think after the second failed attempt at waiting in line, I just used the open door between 2 cars method.

I take a fluid pill, which makes me piss all the time anyway, lol. Add 4 beers to that and you have a fire hydrant.

Since we spent half the tailgating time in a pee line, why don't they just have flipcup tables next to the lines so we can have something to do while waiting to pee?

Let's remain quietly aware this is the time of season which our current Program has shown a miserable ability to maintain early success. Let us therefore also hope/pray this is the season that depressing track record gets smashed.

Nice to hear that MPS has again become an exciting place. I also believe I heard/read Saturday was the 3rd home attendance announced this season at >60,000.......very nice (though perhaps not terribly surprising) considering the hand-wringing last summer at our declining season ticket base.

All these new bandwagon jumper oners can't handle their liquor or their piss. I think after the second failed attempt at waiting in line, I just used the open door between 2 cars method.

I'm anything but a bandwagon jumper; nevertheless, I regrettably admit I'm part of that group of individuals who can't handle their liquor (or their piss) anymore, either  That does not, however, mean I've quit trying to consume like a younger fan.
